Exciting news! F1000 is delighted to announce that we are proud partners of the BMJ Research Forum 2023, a dynamic event focusing on driving forward the real-world impact of research— the linchpin of F1000's mission. The Forum will bring together a diverse group of experts, including research funding organizations, policymakers, individuals with lived experience, research leaders and editors, alongside F1000’s Managing Director, Rebecca Lawrence. Together they will delve into the pressing questions that transcend the medical research community. This year, the focus revolves around two crucial areas: 1. How data flows from patients and citizens to research and back to deliver benefits 2. How we formulate the building blocks of research – the research questions – in the most equitable and comprehensive way 📍BMA House, London 📆 December 13th – 14th Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eqjkqvKH BMJ, Rebecca Lawrence, Liz Allen, Anna Curson #BMJResearchForum #BMJ #OpenResearch #AcademicPublishing #ResearchImpact

Earlier this year we announced that F1000 and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation were launching VeriXiv, a new verified preprint platform. Today we are excited to say that the first preprint has been published on the platform: “Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine market survey at agro-veterinary stores in rural and peri-urban areas of Nigeria.” This research from Dr. Andy Peters, Adebayo Sopeju, Grace Onoja, and Victor Taiwo Abiodun evaluates how high-quality foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccines used on livestock could best be made available in Nigeria. This work can have a huge impact on the livelihoods of farmers in LMICs (Low- or Middle-Income Country), as globally, the annual economic impact of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is estimated at USD 11 billion in endemic settings, with the impact most profound among smallholder farmers. F1000 provides innovative open access publishing platforms offering rapid publication and open peer review, whilst supporting data deposition and sharing for the research community.
