October marks Black History Month, and this year’s theme is 'Reclaiming Narratives.' Throughout the month, Faerfield is highlighting the achievements of trailblazing Black scientists, business and public service leaders, inventors, and artists. This week's feature is from one of our Partners, Ben Cox, who honours the significant contributions of Gavin Lewis, a Managing Director at BlackRock. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eKk8upC3 As a Managing Director at BlackRock, Gavin holds a prominent position in the UK Asset Management industry, directing the strategic direction of BlackRock’s UK Institutional Client Business which includes the Local Government Pension Scheme segment. With a wealth of experience, he has held senior roles at several prestigious financial services firms. Currently, Gavin is a member of the UK Institutional Executive Committee, Co-Chair of the Global BlackRock Black Professionals Network, and a Sponsor of the EMEA Black Professionals Network. In addition to his professional achievements, Gavin is a passionate advocate for increasing ethnic minority representation within senior roles in the financial sector. He actively contributes to the industry’s Diversity Project and has co-created the #TalkAboutBlack movement, which aims to enhance the visibility and representation of Black professionals within the industry. In recognition of his contributions to diversity and inclusion, Gavin has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 2022. He also received accolades as the Senior Financial Services Professional of the Year from the Black British Business Awards and the Heart of BlackRock award for fostering a culture of empathy, trust, and respect. Gavin continues to make significant strides in his industry through initiatives such as mentoring circles for Black professionals at all career stages, conducting skills workshops for students, and designing programs that empower young people from underprivileged backgrounds to elevate their aspirations. A true success story in both business and life, Gavin’s ability to inspire others is truly his superpower.
