In 2023, Thomas, a proud graduate of Fair Shot’s first cohort, took a major step forward after completing our Supported Internship Programme—joining the incredible team at Savore as a Barista! ☕ Initially, like many employers, Savore had a few concerns. Would the fast-paced environment be too overwhelming? Would the team be able to support Thomas’s unique needs during busy times? These are common questions for companies new to hiring individuals with autism or learning disabilities. Through Fair Shot’s ongoing support, the Savore team found the confidence to embrace the journey, knowing we’re there to help navigate any challenges that arise. One week ago, we celebrated our Fair Shot: Through the Lens exhibition with the talented photographer Amanda Akokhia. The event offered a profound look into the challenges and misconceptions employers often have when hiring individuals with #learningdisabilities and autism.
