  • Today represents another milestone in our sustainability journey, as we have signed a landmark deal with Hydrogen Refinery for 12.5 million litres per annum of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), reinforcing our ambition to become a Global Sustainability Showcase for Airports around the world. Already one of the largest single-site suppliers of SAF to the business aviation community, with the Airport having sold over 2 million litres of 38% blended SAF since 2021, this deal marks a major step in kick-starting the refining of SAF using Hydrogen Refinery’s unique technology, which converts mixed waste into carbon negative SAF. We are delighted to be forging this ground-breaking alliance with Hydrogen Refinery, which has the potential for Farnborough Airport to be the first and only airport in the world to offer fuel with a 20% blend across our entire supply by 2028, ahead of the UK Government’s own target of 10% by 2030. • As part of our Inspiring Minds Programme, we had the pleasure of hosting Business Studies students from The Sixth Form College Farnborough today. Raising aspirations and supporting people into the workplace is a key focus for us at Farnborough Airport. So, it was fantastic to show the group around the Airport, along with providing them with insight into the variety of different job roles we have here.

  • As a founding partner of Community Matters Partnership (CMP), it was great to be involved in their 2024 RAISE initiative, which was aimed at providing school-aged children with an authentic experience of a wide range of workplaces. Shaping the lives of young people in the community is important to us and so, it was once again a pleasure to support CMP’s RAISE initiative that, like us, aims to ignite the hopes and dreams of local school children. As part of the initiative, we hosted a group of students from nearby Tomlinscote School today, who received an insight into how the Airport operates and the range of careers available here.

We’re thrilled to welcome our students who, over the next eight weeks, will be combining College studying with hands-on learning at the Airport, across a range of departments. We look forward to seeing the students learn and develop throughout the course.

  • At Farnborough Airport, we are committed to supporting economic prosperity in the community, and so it was a pleasure to host Aldershot Town Football Club's Business Leaders Lunch today. The Airport proved to be the perfect location to welcome the football club, along with a host of local business leaders and community stakeholders, to discuss the future of business in the area. It was great to see the Leader of Rushmoor Borough Council, Councillor Gareth Williams, and Alex Baker MP in attendance and engaging with the discussions.

  • At Farnborough Airport, we strive to raise aspirations in the community by attracting and inspiring talent from a diverse background and our Apprenticeship Programme is a big part of this.   In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up with our Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability apprentice, Aaron Fazal, and Airport Systems Development apprentice, Daniel Williams.   “My journey, began with part-time bar work at our partner hotel Aviator and has transitioned into a full-time apprenticeship at Farnborough Airport,” said Aaron. “This experience has given me valuable skills, industry insights, and a recognised degree qualification, setting me up for a successful career in aviation. I strongly believe in the value of apprenticeships and would choose this route every time.” During Aaron’s apprenticeship, he’s taken a positive approach in assisting not only the Sustainability team, but also various departments across the Airport. His support has been seen in projects such as the Airport’s Employee Volunteering Programme.   Daniel has been involved in a number of IT projects, including the creation of new tools to help automate existing manual processes using existing software available, along with a deeper understanding of knowledge in relation to legislation such as the DPA/GDPR.   “During my apprenticeship I have learnt a wide breadth of key skills and information that will help further my career,” said Daniel. “Thanks to the amazing mentorship I’ve had, I feel far more confident and capable in the workplace.”   Our Apprenticeship Programme is just one example of how we hope to inspire the next generation, with the Airport also offering a comprehensive work experience programme and a brand-new training course titled, 'The Farnborough Airport Professional Certificate in Airport Operations’, developed in partnership with Farnborough College of Technology.

  • We were the proud Community Sponsor of yesterday’s Farnborough Half Marathon. It was fantastic to see so many members of our community together to take part in this great event. Part of our community engagement strategy is about improving community wellbeing, which includes supporting local events. Well done to all who took part in and helped organise the race.

  • Farnborough Airport is once again the proud Community Sponsor of this Sunday’s Farnborough Half Marathon. Improving community wellbeing is a key focus of our community engagement plan. This includes enhancing and supporting local charities and events, like the Half Marathon, where 3,000 runners from a diverse range of different backgrounds in the area run around the perimeter of the Airport, in what is billed as England’s best half marathon. Good luck to some of our team from the Airport and the Aviator Hampshire, who will be taking part in the event.
