Leading up to International Women's Day on 8th March, our Farrat Women in STEM (and amazing male allies!) took part in the Go Beyond Women in STEM Celebration Event at The University of Salford this week. We enjoyed a truly inspiring day with the engaged and passionate female STEM students, and the fabulous academics who support and empower them. Brilliant student presentations, lively discussion and debate (including a discussion panel guest appearance by our very own People Director, Sally Moxon), and an inspiring keynote speaker were some of our highlights. And the Farrat stand in the careers market place was visited throughout the afternoon by the budding engineers of the future. Introducing Luke Plaskett, another of our skilled Apprentices at Farrat. Luke first discovered the apprenticeship opportunities at Farrat through Indeed. In a competitive job market, the chance to become a Junior IT Technician stood out as a valuable opportunity to kickstart his career in technology. Motivated by the prospect of hands-on learning in an enterprise IT environment, he eagerly applied and was thrilled to join the team. How has Farrat supported Luke’s Growth? • Gained hands-on experience managing IT infrastructure, troubleshooting user issues, and supporting legacy systems. • Worked on a range of exciting and varying challenges • Engaged in larger IT projects, regular team meetings, and strategic planning to ensure smooth operations. “Farrat feels more like a family than a corporate workplace. The idea of stepping into something new and full of learning potential motivated him to apply, and he was over the moon when he got the chance to join. As part of a dynamic team, Kian plays a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of daily operations, with a strong focus on planning and preparation. Meet Morgan Page, another of our dedicated Apprentices at Farrat. Morgan first discovered apprenticeship opportunities at Farrat through the Indeed platform after her previous company went into administration. When she saw the opportunity, she knew it would be the perfect place to learn, grow, and gain new skills. As a key point of contact for the entire business, Morgan’s day-to-day role is dynamic and essential. How has Farrat supported Morgan’s growth? • Developed a wide range of new skills and even completed an IOSH training course, which has been invaluable in her role as part of the HSE committee. • Deepened her understanding of how each department contributes to Farrat’s success. • Morgan’s confidence has grown significantly since joining Farrat, thanks to the friendly, supportive environment. “Since working at Farrat, my confidence has improved massively.
