Trusted independent advisers providing support on digital connectivity, network infrastructure, 4G, 5G, IoT & TECS.
About us
We are a team of independent advisers providing guidance on a range of enabling technologies, variously described as digital connectivity, network infrastructure, telecoms, and enterprise IT. FarrPoint is proud to be a B Corporation. We advise on strategy, technology, procurement and implementation. We are a team of consulting technologists, economists and data scientists. We provide experience, expertise and complementary resource to clients in the public and private sectors. Our Story – as told by our Founders: When we set FarrPoint up, we three founders had a shared idea of technical advice and client service done well. We didn’t want to be a typical consultancy. We also shared deep personal convictions about the importance and impact of connectivity work. So, at FarrPoint, it’s all about a duty of care to clients and service users. If we get that right, profit and growth will follow. We take pride in the quality of the work, the impact of the work, and the way the work is delivered. By Andrew Muir & Richard Parkinson.

Improved 4G #connectivity is making a real difference for Skye fisherman Iain MacAskill, who can now manage his business, communicate with buyers, and stay in touch with loved ones—often over 15 miles offshore. Installed in Mallaig as part of the Shared Rural Network (SRN) programme, these upgrades are expected to deliver over £1 million in socio-economic benefits to the local community. FarrPoint’s report, commissioned by EE, demonstrates how #digital infrastructure can provide significant value, even in remote areas. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g6e8C3Y6

Looking forward to joining a techUK panel, at next week's Birmingham Tech Week, looking at the 'Global Growth for the UK's tech sector'. With the Digital Economy being a key pillar in the UK Government's Modern Industrial Strategy Green Paper. This will be a great chance to assess how the UK has performed in the tech sector over the last decade, and look forward to how it can leverage that growth and learnings from its international competitors going forward. #DigitalEconomy #Digital #BirminghamTechWeek

FarrPoint’s CEO Andrew Muir was in Washington last week, catching up with the latest developments in US #connectivity at Broadband Nation Expo. BEAD continues to be a focus, not surprisingly, but there are other funding programs and updates to cover. Some key takeaways from the event were: 1. Realisation that #BEAD timescales will be longer than originally anticipated and a strong desire to get the money assigned to start building quickly, but this is a complex program with lots of administrative steps to cover 2. Three main challenges to #broadband deployment are seen as supply chain, permitting and workforce, with the latter a particular focus on some good initiatives from www.broadbandnation.org 3. Electric coops and municipalities play an important role in local broadband delivery, showing the diversity of possible solutions rather than a one-size-fits-all – which clearly doesn’t work, or else there would be no need for such conferences! 4. A really interesting session on the unique challenges around tribal broadband and the different approaches that are needed to engage properly – and Native Americans in all geographies have worse access to broadband than any other racial or ethnic groups (see the report from our partners at https://lnkd.in/eTGSng5C) 5. And a final thought: why can’t UK conferences have catering like the North Americans? They even cook omelettes for you at breakfast!
