We believe in a fashion industry that conserves and restores the environment and values people over growth and profit.
About us
Fashion Revolution is a global movement campaigning for a fashion industry that conserves and restores the environment and values people over growth and profit. The organisation works in over 90 countries worldwide, with both an innovative and international approach to research, education and advocacy. Fashion Revolution was founded in 2014 by Carry Somers and Orsola de Castro with the aim to increase transparency in the fashion industry and stand in solidarity with the people who make our clothes. Since then, it has grown to be the world’s largest fashion activism movement, mobilising citizens, brands and policymakers to make positive change. The key pillars of change which Fashion Revolution pushes for include shifting the culture of fashion production and consumption, incentivising fashion brands and retailers to improve their practices and advocating for policy which holds the industry accountable for its impact. The global fashion industry is opaque, exploitative and environmentally damaging and desperately needs revolutionary change. Fashion Revolution wants to ignite a revolution to radically change the way our clothes are sourced, produced and purchased. We believe transparency is the first step to transform the industry, and it starts with one simple question: who made my clothes? Join us by showing your clothing label and asking brands #whomademyclothes, to show that you care and demand better for the people who make our clothes. We want brands to respond by showing us the people in their supply chain with the hashtag #imadeyourclothes. We want to see the faces and hear the stories from thousands of makers, farmers and producers, and see an increasing number of brands make their supply chains more transparent.

Fashion Revolution will be at #ClimateWeekNYC2024 next week and we have a clear message: IT’S TIME FOR FASHION BRANDS TO PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR EMISSIONS ARE ❗❗❗ Big fashion is fueling the climate crisis, and we’re calling on major fashion brands to invest at least 2% of their revenue in a fair transition away from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources to power fashion’s supply chain in a clean way. ⏰ 🏭 🔥 📣 WE ARE CALLING ON ✔ Policymakers to enhance regulation 👨⚖️ ✔ Investors to fund and co-fund renewable energy and decarbonisation projects 💰 ✔ Citizens to use their voice- email major brands and retailers and call on them to invest at least 2% of their annual revenues into their decarbonisation and Just Transition efforts 👩 👱♂️ ✔ Civil society, academia, journalists to leverage data and findings to scrutinise and verify the public claims made by brands 👩⚕️ 👩🏫 👩💼 👩💻 🕵♀️ Fernanda Simon, Liv Simpliciano, Patricia Barroso Pinto will be representing us there, do reach out and help us email brands telling them to put their money where their emissions are: https://lnkd.in/eSyRSqyk https://lnkd.in/gspdtQSd #ClimateWeekNYC2024 #WhatFuelsFashion #ClimateCrisis #JustTransition #Fashion

The people who make our clothes are on the front lines of a crisis they didn’t cause 🪡🌎 The fashion industry has made billions by exploiting workers and extracting immense wealth from the countries least responsible for climate breakdown. Now these communities are facing the worst impacts of the climate crisis, risking their lives to make our clothes. It’s a humanitarian crisis that cannot be ignored any longer. Big fashion must use its powerful economic influence to fuel the clean energy transition rather than placing greater burden onto their suppliers. Yet our report #WhatFuelsFashion found that just 6% of brands tell us how much they’re spending on renewable energy annually. We believe that big fashion can pay its own bills. That’s why we are calling on brands to invest at least 2% of their revenues into a clean, fair and just energy transition💰 📣 Take action on #WorldHumanitarianDay 📣 ✉️ Send an email to the world’s largest fashion brands at: https://lnkd.in/esTX54RP #WhatFuelsFashion #DontBeFuelish

How can suppliers navigate the evolving legislation landscape? 🏭 While binding legislation is an important step towards industry-wide transparency and sustainability, fashion suppliers may find it difficult to obtain this data. Big brands have made ambitious promises for sustainability, but the work of addressing the fashion industry’s impact disproportionately falls to their suppliers. To help bridge this gap, brands must take responsibility for their supply chains and collaborate with each other to implement solutions. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eXGXz6hQ

Fashion Revolution stands in solidarity with the people of Bangladesh and urges the global fashion industry to support workers through this uncertain period. Brands sourcing in Bangladesh must ensure that the people who make our clothes are supported through this crisis and receive full wages through factory closures. https://lnkd.in/egAaSh7J

Our clothes are fuelling environmental breakdown and global disaster. Big fashion is not just destroying the future, it’s destroying the present 🚨 The fashion industry is one of the richest on the planet, but it’s also one of the most polluting. From farming fibres to finishing fabrics to powering factories, fossil fuels are found at every stage of clothing production. Instead of investing in clean, renewable energy, brands are shifting the costs onto their suppliers and burdening them with fixing a problem they didn’t create. Production countries are least responsible but most affected and workers are already paying the price of climate change; it’s time for brands to cough up 💸 We believe that big fashion can pay its own bills. That’s why we are calling on brands to invest at least 2% of their annual revenues into a clean, fair and just energy transition. Let’s tell brands to put their money where their emissions are! 📣 ✊🏽 Take action ✊🏽 📧 Use our email a brand tool to send a message to the world’s largest fashion brands 📲 Download resources from our website to spread the word 👋 Tag your friends to join our call Find everything you need to take action at https://lnkd.in/dZFZvmR #WhatFuelsFashion #DontBeFuelish
