Female Founders Rise

Imagine this... A world where young people are finally able to name not 1 female entrepreneur, but 100. I read a shocking stat this week that 8 in 10 young people can’t name a female entrepreneur. This is wild. Not only is it wild, it's sad. I'm surrounded by incredible female founders all the time (trust me, there's no shortage of them). Yet young people can't see the potential of what they could become. Today is International Day of the Girl, a UN initiative about rights and empowerment of girls. The day encourages girls to dream big, to pursue their goals. But girls can only do this when they see and can name role models they look up to. So here's what you can do to help make a change: 👉 Share stories about female entrepreneurs with teens 👉 Support media outlets that back female entrepreneurs 👉 Buy from female owned business and services 👉 Invite female speakers to your company / school 👉 Use your platform to feature female entrepreneurs This week I was part of an amazing campaign that Female Founders Rise are putting together to combat this. But so much more can be done And everyone can take action. They may seem superficial on the surface, but that’s part of their magic. Disney makes modern myths - teaching resilience, empathy, personal growth, and social responsibility, normalising values - just like ancient myths once did. So they’re Trojan horses—delivering wisdom and ethical guidance under the guise of entertainment. Some of history’s best thinkers have made their way into Disney films, even if their wise takes do end up voiced by, like, a crab. (Don’t judge the thinking by the drawing.) So when you curl up with a Disney film, you're tapping a deep well of human wisdom. ✨ Were you there? ✨ Yesterday evening I had the pleasure of attending the Female Founders Rise community meet up. The energy in the room was incredible and I left feeling truly uplifted. 💫 💚 It was a joy meeting so many founders IRL that I'm connected to on here - Clara Toombs, Nonie White and Harriet Cox. 💚 I loved meeting lots of new fabulous founders too - Julie Thompson Dredge, Rebecca Miles, Ami Rabheru and Swara Mohite. 💚 Plus some amazing fellow women in finance - Inna Semenyuk and Georgina Singer-Cullen Sharing experiences and supporting each other on our journeys was so encouraging.🤍 As usual, the panel discussion was fab - Rebekah Clark and Debbie Zaman shared insights on public relations, emphasising the importance of authentic storytelling. A shoutout to Leah Waring's Buns of Joy for the insanely delicious cinnamon buns she gifted to everyone attending.
