💡 At Ferroglobe PLC, we are constantly exploring ways to innovate and contribute to a more sustainable future. Our CEO, Marco Levi, recently shared his views with S&P Global Commodity Insights on how #SiliconMetal could revolutionize the electric vehicle (EV) market by significantly reducing vehicle costs and improving vehicle performance. ⚡ In the interview, Marco Levi highlighted the next steps of our partnership with Coreshell , which aims to produce the first battery-ready metallurgical silicon at a pilot plant for the development of high-range EV batteries and expressed intentions to test “new batteries in the first quarter, which were expected to show a quantum step up in energy density compared with existing EV batteries.” 🔋 Our CEO also emphasized the importance of silicon from a materials-security perspective, due to recent global shortages of both natural and synthetic graphite, as well as China's dominance on graphite supply. Levi claimed that the use of silicon instead of graphite is crucial to decarbonize the automotive sector, because silicon is available in Europe and the US, but also because increased use of “silicon carbon composites could replace up to 30% of the graphite in an EV battery”. 🗞 Click here to read the full interview 👉  https://lnkd.in/d-aesthN #FerroglobeUSA #BuildingourFuture #InspiringInnovation
