    Happy Menopause Monday (let's go with it, there was a bank holiday 😂 ) Welcome to week two of my 'Menopause Mondays' series! As a certified menopause wellness practitioner, I'm here to share insights and tips on supporting women through perimenopause and menopause at work. Together, we can help bridge the gender gap in senior positions. The effect on the workplace can be Menopause-related issues result in an estimated 14 million lost workdays annually in the UK. Replacing an employee who leaves due to menopause can cost over £30,000 per person, adding significant economic pressure on businesses. Here are three of the many ways you can support women going through menopause at work: ⭐ Encourage an active lifestyle - Regular exercise, such as walking, running, or dancing, can help with menopause symptoms including osteoporosis. Making sure you encourage your colleagues and staff to take regular walking breaks or access to a workplace gym / gym staff benefit can help combat this. (Not to mention, this is good for everyone no matter their age or gender!) ⭐ Be understanding - Menopause can cause symptoms like memory lapses and difficulty concentrating, which are known as "brain fog". This can lead to many women feeling as though they are no longer able to do their job or like they're not performing as well as their colleagues. ⭐ Access to mental health resources and support - Menopause impacts employees not just physically, but emotionally as well. By investing in resources and programmes that address the emotional aspects of menopause, employers can help foster a workplace culture that supports open discussions about the mental health challenges experienced during this stage I'd love to hear how your company are supporting women going through this transition and your experiences.     ✨ Menopause Mondays ✨ Good Morning LinkedIn, following on from my post last week, here is the first in the series of 'Menopause Mondays' in the lead up to Menopause Awareness Month in October. 🔎 Week 1 : Raise Awareness and Educate Understanding menopause is key to building a supportive workplace so here are a few key facts about menopause: ⭐ Menopause is not the whole transition, it is a point in time: It's - the anniversary of when a woman hasn't had a period for 12 consecutive months, immediately after this you move into postmenopause ⭐ Perimenopause is the transition phase prior to the menopause that can start up to 10 years earlier than the actual menopause ⭐ Menopause usually happens between the ages of 45 and 55 with the average age in the UK being 51 however, 1 in 100 women experience it before the age of 40 ⭐ Menopause can happen for a number of reasons including naturally, genetics, surgery and cancer treatments ⭐ Symptoms can include: Hot flushes, brain fog, anxiety and mood swings. These can happen for years leading up to the menopause and can have a detrimental impact on a woman's ability to go about normal daily tasks in work and in life ⭐ Many women going through perimenopause are misdiagnosed with depression, anxiety or thyroid issues. Allowing women seeking answers and diagnosis the time for Drs appointments is key to supporting them through this. By understanding and raising awareness, you’re helping to create a workplace where women are understood and supported. A little education can make a big difference, leading to a more inclusive and compassionate work culture. Let's raise awareness about menopause in the workplace so that companies are better set up for women in all stages of their careers. #menopause #womenintheworkplace #menopauseawareness #perimenopause (For this series, I will use the term women however please be aware this can impact non-binary and transgender people too) Few&Far
