It was great talking to Alberto Ares about all things data! He is a wizard. What a fun chat, thanks Alberto! It is true to say that almost all of our work is underpinned by data. 10 years ago I would have said that the best search firms are driven by networks. Networks remain a crucial ingredient but decision making is driven by data, access is driven by networks so you have to harness both. Check out some of the topics we covered below. #fidessearch #growth #data #strategy #consulting

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) are no longer mere buzzwords but essential to organisational success, especially in the legal sector. Paul Philip, Chief Executive of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, recently observed that a diverse legal profession benefits not only the public but legal businesses as well, ensuring talent from all backgrounds has the opportunity to thrive. As a search firm, we are in a powerful position to be agents of change when it comes to advancing DE&I in the workplace. Moving the needle requires more than just placing diverse candidates; it involves working with clients to build equitable hiring practices, proactively expanding talent pools, eliminating bias, and ensuring leadership accountability. The question now is: what can be done to further accelerate change? Read on below for a short excerpt of our article "Driving DE&I Progress in Recruitment: Moving the Needle as a Talent Partner" to find out, or read the full article at: https://lnkd.in/e9eZBEJD 1. Beyond Checking Boxes: A Holistic Approach to DE&I Too often, companies approach DE&I as a tick box and compliance exercise, focusing on hiring diverse candidates to meet targets rather than embedding these principles into their long-term strategies to ensure retention. Search firms are in a unique position to shift this mindset by emphasising a holistic approach to DE&I that focuses on equity and inclusion. 2. Proactively Expanding Talent Pools Often, the lack of diversity in hiring is the result of narrow candidate pipelines. By broadening our search methods, tapping into historically under-represented groups, partnering with diverse professional organisations, and leveraging technology to mitigate bias, we can introduce clients to a wider array of talented individuals. 3. Embedding Bias Awareness in the Recruitment Process Bias, both conscious and unconscious, remains a significant barrier to true inclusivity in hiring. The recruitment industry can move the needle by embedding bias-awareness training throughout the hiring process. 4. Partnering for Long-Term Success True DE&I progress requires long-term commitment, and search firms should partner with clients for sustained success, rather than focusing solely on short-term placements. By offering ongoing support through talent development programs, retention strategies, and advising on inclusive company culture, we can help organisations retain and nurture diverse talent. 5. Driving Leadership Accountability One of the most critical components of DE&I’s success is accountability at the leadership level. Search firms can serve as consultants, helping organisations create leadership buy-in for DE&I initiatives. If you would like to discuss how Fides can assist your business in enhancing the recruitment of diverse, high-calibre talent, please feel free to contact Sershen Ingram – sershen@fidessearch.com. Recently, Edward Parker, Megan L. Sturdy, and Nathan Simpson from the Fides team visited Amsterdam. Read below to discover some key trends in the Dutch legal market, including the consolidation of firms in Amsterdam, the rise of niche law firms in other cities like The Hague and Rotterdam, and increased demand for legal services both domestically and internationally. 📈💼 Our recent business trip to Amsterdam provided valuable insights into the Dutch legal market. We engaged with clients and candidates alike, gaining a deeper understanding of current trends and opportunities in the Netherlands and across Europe.   We noted an evident and significant migration towards Amsterdam, with firms consolidating multiple offices in Amsterdam or striving to maintain a two-firm presence in the country. We also observed a notable presence of niche and specialised law firms in cities such as The Hague, Rotterdam, and Utrecht. These firms are capitalising on specific areas of expertise, contributing to a healthy upswing in both domestic and international legal work. We heard Dutch law firms are experiencing increased demand for domestic legal services from national clients and inbound work from international counterparts. This growth is particularly pronounced in firms with a critical mass of legal professionals.   A prevailing consensus within the market indicates that conditions are improving on the whole. However, intense pressure on rates persists due to the proliferation of niche firms offering high-quality legal services at competitive costs. The dearth of elite international law firms further intensifies this competitive environment. Among the top-tier firms, De Brauw and the Magic Circle, particularly A&O Shearman, are renowned for their strong reputations and, in the case of A&O Shearman, a substantial U.S. footprint. U.S. law firms like Hogan Lovells, DLA Piper, and Baker McKenzie have a clear and established presence in the Dutch market. Recent entrants, such as Greenberg Traurig and Bird & Bird, have successfully cultivated transactional practices.   Given the growing interest from both domestic and international firms, we anticipate continued market expansion and increased focus on retaining outbound referrals. The Dutch market's large corporations, globalised businesses, and substantial private equity activity make it a highly attractive destination for international law firms and we’re excited to be a part of these developments! #DutchLegalTrends #EuropeanMarket #FidesInsights #MarketExpansion #WeBringtheRightPeopleTogether
