We’re currently bringing forward proposals for three of the largest #BESS sites in the UK. Combined, they will power nearly two million homes. One of our projects is Bicker Fen 1&2, located in Lincolnshire. It will have a combined capacity of 1.2GW, enough to power 700,000 homes.

Yesterday the National Energy System Operator (NESO) released its advice on achieving clean power in Great Britain by 2030. The report set out that achieving this target is going to be a mammoth task, but an achievable one. The NESO’s report concludes that we need to increase battery storage capacity in Great Britain by between 18 and 22GW in order to provide secure and flexible electricity supply for when generation from renewables is low. Deploying big battery projects will be vital to boosting the UK’s energy storage capacity but it is also important that projects are strategically located to best support the transformation to a clean power system; so it is welcome to see the NESO confirm the North of England, where our Thorpe Marsh project is located, as one of the most suitable locations for new battery storage projects. 🔋 🔋 🔋

🎊 We’ve been nominated for Grid-Scale Standalone Energy Storage Project of the Year at the Energy Storage Awards! This nomination is a result of the Fidra Energy team’s hard work and dedication on our West Burton C project. Find out more about the project on our website: https://lnkd.in/eCg2EcA6 We’re looking forward to attending the award ceremony in November and celebrating the UK’s energy storage industry! EIG

There is a growing demand for #BESS to support the UK’s transition to #NetZero. As the UK decarbonises, #RenewableEnergy will be our primary source of electricity. But renewables can be intermittent… Battery storage will allow the UK to access clean energy when the sun isn’t shining, and the wind isn’t blowing ⚡ EIG
