Following our recent work at the Almshouses in Grendon Road as a team we've learnt a lot about Grade II listed buildings and the signficance they hold to cities and towns as part of their #hertiage. At Fifields we are proud that our work ensures that future generations can also enjoy and learn from these remarkable structures. We've listed below some of the factors that make Grade 2 listed buildings important. Our full blog about these unique buildings will be up on our Somerset Website - https://lnkd.in/e7dSfQJ6 1. Architectural Significance: Grade 2 listed buildings often exhibit unique architectural styles, designs, and features that represent a particular period or era. They showcase the craftsmanship and creativity of the past, providing a glimpse into the architectural heritage of a region. 2. Historic Importance: These buildings have witnessed significant historical events or have associations with notable individuals or communities. They serve as tangible links to the past, helping us understand our cultural and historical roots. 3. Cultural Value: Grade 2 listed buildings contribute to the cultural identity of a place. They are landmarks that define the character and charm of a city or town, attracting tourists and locals alike. 4. Educational Opportunities: Exploring Grade 2 listed buildings can be a valuable educational experience. They offer insights into different architectural styles, construction techniques, and historical contexts, fostering a deeper appreciation for our built heritage. 5. Economic Benefits: Grade 2 listed buildings can have a positive impact on the local economy. They often become tourist attractions, generating revenue for nearby businesses such as hotels, restaurants, and shops. Additionally, their preservation and maintenance create employment opportunities. How are Grade 2 listed buildings protected? Grade 2 listed buildings are protected through legal frameworks and planning regulations. Any proposed changes or alterations to these buildings require special permission from the local planning authority. This ensures that any modifications are carried out in a way that preserves the building's historic and architectural significance. #industry #heritagebuildings #exeterhistory #construction #constructionindustry #constructionprojects

The History of Fifields Construction: How It All Began! 🎉 Fifields Electrical Services began in the early nineties, operating from a small office in Crediton. As the company expanded, it added plumbing services and completed work for clients such as Flybe, Buckingham Palace and Devon County Council. In 2003, Fifields moved to Exeter. Within three years, the company expanded and needed to find new premises to grow further. Premises were found on the Marsh Barton Industrial Estate, which was occupied in 2006. In 2011, a building company was established within Fifields due to the previous years of success. Today, Fifields has established an outstanding reputation. We thank the entire team for their unwavering hard work and dedication. #history #companybackground #construction #Exeterbusiness #constructioncompany
