GNI (UK), part of Gas Networks Ireland, participated in an event at Stormont yesterday, advocating for the adoption of biomethane in Northern Ireland’s energy network. Represented by Gas Networks Ireland’s Director of Strategy and Regulation, Edwina Nyhan, GNI (UK) joined the other gas operators in Northern Ireland - Phoenix Energy , firmus energy, Mutual Energy and Evolve and explained to politicians the time was right to “grasp this incredible opportunity to accelerate Northern Ireland along the pathway to net zero”. The gas networks operators also jointly launched a short policy paper, ’Enabling a Greener Energy Future’, which focuses on the range of benefits to unlocking NI’s biomethane opportunity and calls for a regional biomethane target to be set, a capital support ‘Pathfinder’ to be set and a regulatory framework to be enabled. https://lnkd.in/eV27-Nsi
