I recently came across a survey on Consulting Magazine (survey was by emergn), that revealed some interesting insights on the impact of working with top consultancies in transformation processes. Of the 51% of respondents who collaborated with three major consultancies, a staggering 87% felt that the experience had a negative impact or was not helpful at all. Only 13% reported a positive outcome, stating that the consultancies were more helpful than hindering.
