🎉 Making history! The Garrick Club, after 193 years, has made a landmark decision to welcome women as members. 💼💃 Let's take a moment to look back to 1981 when The Reform Club led the way in inclusivity among London's private clubs. 🌟 Reflecting on this monumental shift, it's empowering to remember the bold words exchanged as one of the first women entered the Reform Club: 'Madam, ladies are not permitted in the gallery.' 💬 Yet, she fearlessly asserted, 'No, but members are.' 🎩👏 This moment sparked change, leading to a resignation from the gentlemen who did not want to be a part of a club that accepted women.  Join us on a journey through time as we honor the courage of those pioneering women who broke through barriers into these exclusive spaces. 🚪✨ Click the link in our bio for an exclusive look at our documentary! 🎥 #GarrickClub #WomenInclusion #BreakingBarriers https://lnkd.in/ePXeg6Dv

Participant Observer 🎥 Barney Lankester-Owen, our Creative Director, recounts his experience as a participant observer during the protests in Brazil. In this style of videography, the cameraperson immerses themselves in a social setting or group to more effectively capture behaviors, interactions and practices. This riveting exploration of what goes into creating an immersive storytelling experience in the context of protests is truly eye-opening! #protests #demonstration #rally #justice #policebrutality #hongkong #china #umbrellarevolution #brazil #palestine #gaza #mexico #mexicocity #technology #digitaltechnology #socialmedia #governance #citizenship #discourse

Levante (Uprising) ✊ (Full Version: https://lnkd.in/d7EQ7zMj) Explored global protest movements, and the growing role of citizen journalism and digital technologies. Uprising, a film by our Creative Director, Barney Lankester-Owen, and renowned Brazilian documentary filmmaker, Susanna Lira, won the New York Film Festival’s Social Issues Award in 2016 and was also a Netflix Prize nominee. Our cinéma vérité styled approach to immersive storytelling both captures the essence of the movements, the driving force behind the technologies and most importantly, inserts the audience into the heart of the movement as it is happening. Brazil’s June 2013 national protests in which hundreds of thousands of people marched against corruption, police brutality, poor public services and excess spending on the world cup. Mexico City’s 2012 protests sparked by allegations made against Enrique Peña Nieto's PRI party of buying votes and paying TV networks for support. Israel’s 2014 attack on Gaza which killed over 2,000 civilians and resulted in (previously) unprecedented damage 25% of homes in Gaza city and 70% of homes in Beit Hanoun. Hong Kong’s 2014 “Umbrella Revolution” in which hundreds of thousands of people protested against the NPCSC’s decision to reform the electoral process in ways that were perceived to allow the Chinese government to pre-screen candidates. The film also highlights the emerging trends and technologies that gave these protests a special historical significance. Vibe: A distinctive feeling or quality capable of being sensed e.g. This place gives me a good vibe. - 📖 Merriam-Webster Dictionary From the #flow of music through the air 🎶 To the #flow of movement through the dancer’s body🦵To the #flow of feeling from the dancer to the spectator ❤️🔥 The dynamic shots that capture the enchanting “vibe” of Baile Funk is another dance…between Filipe Cordon's camera and the bustling scene. The end result is a glimpse into the art and context of Tainan Cabral's "Medley" Exhibition with the Victoria Miro Gallery and Vortic Art.

Cultural storytelling conveys a narrative that is deeply rooted in and reflective of cultural elements: tradition, architecture, and a way of life 🧑🏻🤝🧑⛪ By recognizing and celebrating the rich and vibrant culture within the Brazilian favelas we create content that resonates strongly with people around the world. 🌎 🇧🇷

Tainan Cabral is a Brazilian artist from the Senador Camará favela in Rio de Janeiro’s West Zone. He absorbs the colours, textures and carioca beats of the weekly Baile Funk street parties held in the favela and translates them into hallucinatory chromatic paintings. The Victoria Miro presented an online exhibition of his paintings in partnership with Vortic Art a powerful virtual reality and digital exhibition ecosystem for galleries, institutions and collectors. We blended cinematic storytelling with an intimate and authentic exploration of Tainan Cabral’s cultural background to facilitate a more profound appreciation of the artist’s work.
