Thank you for mentioning FMDC Ltd, we are delighted to be providing facade design and materials services on this great project. #facadeengineering #facadedesign #londonarchitecture #londonconstruction
The 1 Liverpool Street team enjoyed a fascinating visit to the foundry of AATi Limited, Essex, who are providing cast aluminium façade elements for our office and retail project under construction in the City of London. We saw the pouring of the project's intricate, diamond-patterned spandrel panels, which will ornament the building's office levels. The moulds made by AATi are designed with the aid of computer software, which simulates the flow of molten metal, bringing high-tech precision to the age old technology of sand-cast metal. The castings will be particularly at home on Liverpool Street, opposite the railway station's Victorian cast iron architecture, bringing a sense of continuity, quality and craft to this prominent corner building. The project is in rather glamourous company, with AATi also commissioned by BAFTA to cast their iconic 'mask' trophies! We were joined on the visit by our façade consultant and long-time collaborator FMDC Ltd, whose metallurgical know-how was key to the design's development. Yesterday the FMDC Ltd team enjoyed a tour of 81 Newgate Street, a ‘cut & carve’ scheme by KPF architects currently under construction, in which FMDC Ltd have been involved as façade consultants since early design stages and for which we are currently novated to Main Contractor Mace for the construction stages. FMDC Ltd's Lefteris Siamopoulos and Irene Mantovani took us through some of the intricacies and challenges of the cladding, which combines unitised curtain walling by Focchi Group and precast concrete cladding by Grants Group, faced with recycled stone from the previous BT headquarters building on this very site. The visit was an opportunity to enjoy some spectacular views of St Paul’s cathedral, as well as surrounding City of London and some of the projects FMDC Ltd are currently involved in, or have completed in the area. A very instructive and interesting tour and an opportunity to share ideas and experiences on site and on a real building, rather than on a screen in the office! Many thanks again to Mace for the invitation and to Anila Hadafmand in particular for taking us around. After four years of consultation, collaboration and conversations with local communities and stakeholders, we’re proud to announce the submission of the Hybrid Planning Applications to reinstate Earls Court as a global destination for wonder. Our 44 acre masterplan will come alive with music, arts and entertainment. As central London’s largest cleared development opportunity, this is more than just a construction project—it is the reimagining of an iconic part of London into a dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable neighbourhood designed for all stages of life. Earls Court will be a better piece of City, providing a blueprint for future generations as a model for how London can evolve to meet the needs of its residents and address the environmental and societal challenges of the future. With nature as the golden thread, the long empty site will be transformed as a new neighbourhood with c.4,000 new homes and 12,000 jobs set within 20 acres of new public open and green space. It will reflect its legacy as a hub of innovation and entertainment, be a showcase for clean and climate tech with 2.5 million sq ft of workspace and create a new cultural ecosystem for London with three new anchor venues. The development will be served by a next generation net zero carbon energy network and a net zero operational carbon target setting new standards for sustainable development. The vision for Earls Court, as a place to discover wonder, is guided by four place pillars that underpin everything we do: - A celebration of nature and its ability to connect and revive - A showcase for climate and clean innovation - A cultural ecosystem for future talent - An inspiring neighbourhood designed for all stages of life Head to our website to see our plans: www.earlscourt.com Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eQXb6SRc #earlscourt #discoverwonder

Last week FMDC Ltd’s Andrea C. and Nathanael Tzoutzides had the pleasure of participating in the Charity Padel Tournament organised by The Earls Court Development Company, in support of Solidarity Sports, a charity supporting children in need through the power of play. A great event, in which 16 teams of the architecture, development, construction, and consultancy sectors met for a very worthy cause. A fantastic initiative not only supporting a charitable effort but also promoting padel as a growing sport benefiting local communities. Many thanks again to The Earls Court Development Company for their invitation and for organising such a great event! We are delighted to announce that our Hill House scheme for Landsec has been shortlisted for a New London Award! The transformational plans will deliver an exciting mixed-use destination, with a prominent new home for Shoe Lane Library. Sixteen floors of state-of-the-art office space with dedicated landscaped terraces will be created in the heart of the City as well as a stunning new rooftop restaurant with spectacular views of the capital, Hill House is environmentally responsible and has ambitious targets to be fully net zero carbon with almost 60% of the existing structure retained and no new foundations required, resulting in a significant embodied carbon saving and less disruption to neighbours. There is a huge increase in biophilic diversity through extensive urban greening in the form of a unique urban forest cascading from the top of the building. Shoe Lane Library’s long-term future will be secured and its facilities will be reimagined and improved, with ground floor accessibility, civic presence and dedicated use of the rooftop space for special events. Visitors will also enjoy natural light and views overlooking an enhanced Gunpowder Square. The modern space responds to community feedback and supports the City’s libraries vision. There will also be flexible space that can be used for collaboration, events and cultural activities. Connected to the Library, a flexible workspace will serve the community, small businesses, start-ups, and freelancers. The newly landscaped Gunpowder Square with planting and trees will help achieve a biodiversity increase of 532% creating a greener, more attractive public realm for visitors to enjoy. Hill House will strengthen the City of London’s status as a fantastic place to work, live and visit, attracting commuters and visitors into the district seven days a week.
