🎉 Breaking Our LinkedIn Silence! 🎉   Hello, Sonnox followers!   We know, we know… it’s been a while. We’ve been so quiet that even our team of software developers began to look like extroverts.   After 12 years of observing from the shadows, we’ve decided to make some noise. Thank you to our incredibly patient followers for sticking around despite our silence. You’ve hung around longer than [redacted DAW] scanning [redacted plugin] for the first time!   We’ll try not to turn future updates and insights into decennial events.   Stay tuned.

We're pleased to announce that Phil Dudderidge OBE has been made an Honorary Doctor in a graduation ceremony at Buckinghamshire New University. Phil donned the formal graduation cap and gown and received his honorary doctorate onstage at the Wycombe Swan theatre, before delivering a speech to the graduating class in attendance. On receipt of the award, Phil said: “I am delighted to receive an Honorary Doctorate from Buckinghamshire New University. Focusrite has been involved with the university since the first music studios were built in the old campus and I very much value the relationship we have enjoyed over the years. “My career has always depended on teamwork. I have been very fortunate to have been able to find outstanding employees and collaborators, locally and around the world, some graduates of this very institution. My experience of international touring with bands early in my career prepared me well for building international distribution and enduring relationships with like-minded entrepreneurs. “To have my life’s work recognised by BNU with an honorary doctorate is most gratifying, especially as I didn’t have the privilege of a university education. My thanks to the Vice Chancellor and Faculty for the honour.” Focusrite is currently working with the Music Production team at BNU to create a Level 5 module for BSc Music Technology. The company also presents its Focusrite Award for Best Audio Production to a BNU music production student every year. Explaining why Phil was chosen for this special honour, Doctor Russel Stone, Head of School for Creative and Digital Industries at BNU, said “BNU is very fortunate to have such a strong relationship with a world-leading audio company. Phil is a source of inspiration to our students and an avid supporter of everything we do. As we continue to develop our music production facilities and programmes the school will draw on Phil’s expertise to ensure our graduates are equipped with the skills needed for a successful career in music production.” BNU’s School of Creative and Digital Industries produces a cohort of skilled audio and music graduates each year. The association and opportunities provided by Phil and Focusrite provide BNU students with unique industry experience and networks that would not be available to someone starting out in the industry otherwise. Based in the University’s Gateway Building at its High Wycombe Campus, the School’s audio and music facilities include state-of-the-art equipment, with Focusrite acting as a lead supplier. Last year, a refit of the School’s Studio 2 involved installing ADAM Audio GmbH speakers, Novation midi controllers, and Focusrite preamps and interfaces, providing BNU students with the best tools to create their music.

On the announcement of the acquisition of UK-based Innovate Audio, Tim Carroll, CEO of Focusrite commented: "The acquisition of Innovate Audio represents another strategic expansion within our Audio Reproduction business, enhancing our product range and building a customer journey into Immersive Audio. From cost effective simple panning to the most advanced TiMaxSpatial solutions, we now have the most complete line up in the sector. We are an immersive sound powerhouse of comprehensive solutions, and this aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver exceptional audio experiences within live and installed environments. I’m also delighted to welcome Dan Higgott to the fold, who I know will make a significant contribution to the TiMax team moving forward. Daniel Higgott, founder of Innovate Audio, commented: "I am absolutely thrilled that Innovate Audio is joining the Focusrite Group. This opportunity marks an exciting new chapter for both Innovate Audio and me personally. Our spatial audio products panLab and panLab Console now have an exciting new home, where they can thrive and integrate with world class brands. I am delighted to be joining the brilliant Dave Haydon and Robin Whittaker, as we deliver an extremely exciting roadmap of new products to the TiMax family.”

We’re delighted to announce the acquisition of UK-based Innovate Audio, the company behind the popular panLab spatial audio solutions. This follows our earlier acquisition of TiMax and builds upon Focusrite Group’s commitment to immersive sound. With the acquisition it has been agreed that panLab solutions will join the TiMaxSpatial brand, meaning TiMax can now offer the most comprehensive range of immersive sound solutions on the market, with everything from entry-level panning software through to full delay-matrix spatial processors and performer stagetracking. Innovate Audio founder, Daniel Higgott, will also join TiMax as a Senior Product Developer. Both panLab 3 and panLab Console have proved popular with sound designers the world over with over 10,000 downloads achieved and the solutions being used in iconic venues from Sydney Opera House to the National Theatre. With panLab 3 users enjoy a spatial audio mixing solution, built to work seamless with QLab that is typically up and running in 5 minutes. With panLab Console, users can achieve an object-based audio workflow, whilst utilising the console they already own. The macOS app adds spatial audio capabilities to a range of digital mixing consoles with mixer Input and Output Channels becoming objects on the panner. By extending the Focusrite Group's business into new products and markets, which complement its existing offerings within the Audio Reproduction business, the acquisition is strategically aligned with the Group's previously communicated aims of growing the core customer base, expanding into new markets, and increasing lifetime value for customers.

🌍 🌿 As we mark Earth Day, we’re proud to announce that we have achieved the prestigious Ecologi | B Corp™ ‘For Our Planet’ Gold Award and have committed to setting science-based emission reduction targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).   In the past year, we have calculated our environmental footprint down to individual component level on products and communicated transparently about our emissions in our first Environment and Climate Report. This has established a solid baseline for how we will decarbonise moving forwards. This steadfast commitment to the environment has led to us being honoured with the Ecologi ‘For Our Planet’ Gold Award, signifying our successful reporting, target setting, decarbonisation work, and substantial funding of climate action projects.   Also, we have proudly responded to the urgent call for corporate climate action by committing to align with the 1.5°C and net-zero targets through the ‘Business Ambition for 1.5°C’ campaign. We have committed to set near-term and net-zero company-wide emission reductions in line with climate science with the SBTi, with work underway to develop near-term and net-zero targets to be submitted for validation within 24 months.   “Aligning the Focusrite Group with this effort has been a key part of our environmental strategy,” says Andrew Land, Global Head of Sustainability at Focusrite Group. “We started by looking at our internal operations, then our products, and now how we fit within our industry and beyond.”   “By committing to setting science-based targets for decarbonisation we are following the latest climate science and plan to publish our ambitious targets in full. These will include annual reduction goals, ultimately forecast towards achieving net-zero emissions as early as possible.    However, any actions we take on our own will not prevent global temperature rises, so we call on other companies to take the same action by committing to science-based 1.5°C and net-zero targets.”   📣 We encourage other businesses to commit to science-based targets, joining us in this critical endeavour for a sustainable future. 📣   #EarthDay2024 #Sustainability #ClimateAction #FocusriteGroup #ProAudio #MusicalInstrumentIndustry
