Forces Farming is closing down this month. Please read on for more information. It’s with a heavy heart that after 5 years the time has come to close things down for the foreseeable future of Forces Farming and Forces into Agriculture CIC. There have been many service leavers, veterans and their families who have moved into the rural sector through the work and support we provided. The most rewarding part of this journey is knowing that lives have been changed for the better and we have given people ability to do something meaningful and call it work. Looking back at the past 5 years, the agricultural industry has a much bigger focus on Armed Forces Engagement. Many organisations now have dedicated programmes for those who have served and are looking to enter the industry. We like to think we had a hand in this shift of focus. Donations into Forces into Agriculture CIC have supported wounded, injured and sick personnel into new careers and new lives. This was one of the ultimate goals from the start; deliver support into meaningful jobs and careers while providing a purpose. Thank you to all those who have supported this journey. Thank you to all the veterans and service leavers who have trusted the advice and support provided. Thank you to all who have shared or promoted the work done up to this point. Thank you to the farmers and businesses who have donated to support Armed Forces Engagement in Agriculture. Thank you for reading this. Sorry we can’t continue the support. Anyone currently being supported will be contacted and transferred to other contacts and organisations. #change #armedforces #purpose #farming #farmingcareers #future #thankyou #end

We're honoured to stand with RABI, the UK's leading mental health farming charity as they make a historic pledge of £10 million towards mental health support for our farming community. Here at TIAH, we are deeply committed to the professional and personal growth of those in the farming sector. We understand that the challenges faced by our community are not solely in the fields but also in the mental and emotional well-being of our people. That's why we are thrilled to announce our partnership with RABI through a bursary scheme that will provide 500 bursary-supported memberships, offering access to TIAH’s training platform. Read CEO, Stephen Jacob's blog to find out more about the partnership. https://lnkd.in/eUAAiHzb #farmingmentalhealth #mentalhealth #RABI

Happy Easter one and all. This year we have a truly special milestone to share. On February 26th 2023 the first early lamb of that year was born. This was the start of one example of life and death we as farmers experience throughout our careers. The choice to be involved in taking an animals life for food and fibre is one of pride and is not taken lightly. Proud to produce an animal that can be presented by a local restaurant Malverleys Farm & Dining and allow a young chef to be creative on Easter Sunday. Thank you so much to Hugo Harrison for your input and interest in producing this fine food for your customers. These lambs have been reared on milk and then grass and some sugar beet and hay to keep their energy up over winter. If you choose not to eat meat or don’t agree with it then all we as farmers ask is you understand the complete production cycle for what you do eat. Malverleys do an excellent job of communicating how their food is produced. These lambs and hoggets have been part of and supported a natural eco system of for around 12 months. Their dung for example has fed carbon into the soil through dung beetles. These little beetles in turn feed bats and birds. They have been part of an ongoing agroforestry project which is creating a lot of interest in the industry. Their skins are currently being processed and tanned to be turned into rugs meaning more of the animal is used and more sustainable products arrive in peoples homes. As we go into spring and birds begin to nest, they will be catching flies and bugs from the sheep poo to feed their young. We can’t farm without nature so we need to farm with it. Thank you for reading. #farming #food #fiber #lambs #hoggets #life #agriculture #agroforestry #shepherd #sheep

What are YOUR thoughts on this as a concept to bring new people into agriculture??? Agriculture employs less than 1% of the population. 38% of the industry are aged over 65. 3% are aged under 35. How about we combine the retiring generation and harness their skills for the incoming talent from our Armed Forces… #forcesfarming #future #food #farming #environment #nature #water #health #agriculture #landwirtschaft #people #career #apprentice #newstart #armedforces https://lnkd.in/ePmB2sPb
