Help Shape Edinburgh’s Final Visitor Levy Scheme Edinburgh’s visitor economy is set for a major transformation, with plans to raise over £100 million by 2030 through a new Visitor Levy. Now, local businesses, residents, and visitors have a unique opportunity to help shape the final scheme! Following the introduction of the Visitor Levy (Scotland) Act 2024, which allows Scottish councils to impose a levy on overnight stays, Edinburgh City Council has launched a 12-week consultation on its draft scheme. Your input is crucial to refining the plans and ensuring the levy benefits both the city and the tourism sector. 📢 Have your say on key aspects of the draft proposal: • A 5% levy on overnight stays for up to 7 nights • Types of accommodation subject to the levy • How the funds should be used to improve the city • Possible exemptions With public drop-ins, industry sessions, and targeted stakeholder meetings planned, now’s the time to make your voice heard. Councillors will review all feedback before the final decision in early 2025, with the levy potentially starting in July 2026. Take part in the consultation before Sunday, 15 December, and shape the future of Edinburgh's visitor economy! https://lnkd.in/egDHJA8n #ForeverEdinburgh #VisitorLevy #TourismLeadership
