Formula 1 has announced its first investment in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as part of its ultra-efficient logistics strategy and commitment to reaching Net Zero by 2030. The first phase of investment focuses on SAF purchases through Global Partner DHL for air cargo to and from flyaway races since the Australian Grand Prix in March and covers approximately 20% of subsequent cargo flights this season. Using SAF delivers an estimated 80% reduction in associated carbon emissions per flight, compared to the use of conventional aviation fuel. Formula 1 and the FIA have confirmed that Bahrain International Circuit will host Aramco Pre-Season Testing on 26, 27 and 28 February 2025 ahead of the FIA Formula One World Championship season, which will begin in Melbourne from 14-16 March. The circuit has hosted pre-season testing on six separate occasions since 2009, with its consistent weather conditions, mixture of high and low speed corners, and two long straights enabling the ten Formula 1 teams to put their cars through their paces and gather maximum data ahead of the season. Formula 1 has today announced that Lenovo will become a Global Partner following the extension of their partnership with the technology giant. As part of the deal, starting in 2025, Motorola, a subsidiary of Lenovo Group, will become Global Smartphone Partner of F1. Since 2022, Lenovo technology has been at the heart of F1’s operations as an Official Partner. As a Global Partner of Formula 1, Lenovo will continue to provide F1 with state-of-the-art technology, devices, solutions and services to support the delivery of Grands Prix at track and remotely. Lenovo will also serve as the title sponsor for two races per season and Lenovo and Motorola will have increased trackside branding at events.
