BREAKING NEWS Just when we thought we had a handle on how to navigate the GDPR international transfer maze, the EU Commission has decided to spice things up with a public consultation on new Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). 🎉 These new SCCs are set to solve the conundrum of the Module 4 option (IYKYK), covering the oh-so-fun scenario where the data importer is in a third country but still directly subject to the GDPR. Because, you know, why not add another layer of complexity? 🙃 TBF, at least it closes that unclear gap. Aiming for adoption in Q2 2025, these SCCs are the talk of the town, especially after the recent Uber fine which catalysed this fun (which was a particularly unfortunate turn of events for Uber given the conflicting guidance on this area…). 🚖💸 No draft SCCs available yet (because why make our lives easier?), but watch out for it 👀 https://lnkd.in/eUjs4GNC #GDPR #DataProtection #Startups #WhyIsThisHappening #ComplianceFun Confused by what you need if you share your data internationally? We’ve got you - drop our data privacy experts Jennie Sumpster and Benji Payne a DM, or get in touch with us and we’ll set up a time to chat.
