Congratulations to David MacGregor, who is an engineer at Osbit, one of our Venterra Group partners, for winning the #RisingStarAward for the Northumberland and Tyneside section of the #NorthEasterBusinessAwards 2024. David was chosen because he successfully led the design and build of a ‘first of its kind’ multi-million-pound engineering system!
We're thrilled to share that Osbit Engineer David MacGregor has won the Rising Star Award for the Northumberland & Tyneside Heat of the North East Business Awards 2024! The Rising Star Award recognises a young person in business, aged 25 years or less, who is having a positive impact beyond their age and experience. David will now go head-to-head with the winners from the other two sub-regional heats for the overall North East England title. We are fortunate to have many fantastic young people working in our team at Osbit. David was selected due to successfully leading the design and build of a first of kind multi-million pound engineering system, as well as his technical abilities, and his contribution to a range of engineering projects across the world. The North East Business Award's regional winners will be announced at the Grand Final which is taking place on 3rd October at Hardwick Hall. Congratulations to David, and we're wishing all nominees the best of luck! #osbit #nebusinessawards #venterragroup

Have you seen the announcement of the Strategy to Expand the Supply of Renewable Energy and Strengthen the Supply Chain for South Korea? Venterra Group has broken down the five key elements from the announcement in their post below. Following the strategy, a roadmap to redefine #offshorewind in #SouthKorea has been produced, providing a clear path for development in the coming years.
Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) has unveiled a strategic roadmap that has the potential to redefine the future of the offshore wind industry in South Korea. As highlighted by the countries Vice Minister, this comprehensive plan, The Offshore Wind Power Competitive Bidding Roadmap follows the announcement of a Strategy to Expand the Supply of Renewable Energy and Strengthen the Supply Chain in May 2024 and is designed to instil confidence and security, promoting large-scale investment in the offshore wind sector by both domestic and foreign companies. The key elements of this announcement are as follows: 1. Stable auction volume of offshore wind power, i.e., 7~8GW (4.5-5GW for fixed-bottom, 2.5-3GW for floating), secured over the next 2 years; 2025 auctions could be opened twice (2nd & 4th quarters) depending on bid demand 2. Floating projects are to compete only with floating bidders, and the volume allocated is separate from fixed-bottom; the unawarded volume of floating projects is to be carried forward to the next auction(s) 3. Introduction of 2-stage evaluation system; 1st cut-off stage - 120-150% volume to be selected based on non-price factors, 2nd stage - bid price to be evaluated (ceiling price disclosed) 4. Prioritisation of non-price factors such as economic security and contributions to the domestic supply chain over bidding prices; China's influence in Korea's offshore wind market might be contained due to these new requirements. 5. Another significant change is the relaxation of the mandatory completion period after the award of the PPA auction. For wind farms with a capacity of more than 300MW, the completion period has been extended from 60 months to 78 months. This extension provides developers of floating projects with more time to plan and execute their projects, thereby increasing their comfort and confidence in participating in the upcoming auctions. This groundbreaking roadmap, as laid out by MOTIE, provides a clear path for offshore wind developers in South Korea . With projects eligible to bid for at least the next 2 years, including this year, this roadmap offers a promising landscape for investment decisions and commitments. The potential for investment is significant, and signifies real confidence for the future of the offshore wind industry in South Korea. Venterra Group, a global leader in the offshore wind industry, positively welcomes this announcement. With extensive experience across international markets, we are eager to support our clients in South Korea and continue driving growth of the offshore wind sector throughout the APAC region. We look forward to collaborating with local stakeholders and delivering world-class solutions tailored to South Korea’s unique needs. To explore potential services and partnerships, please contact our South Korea Country Manager, Jinho Paik. #HelpingWindPowerGrow #OffshoreWind #EnergyTransition #APAC

Watch as our skilled team applies a #protective layer of #anticorrosion paint to the base of a new #cementmixer in our Livingston workshop. This important step ensures the longevity and durability of the mixer, essential for the often harsh conditions offshore as we mix our cementitious fluids to create strong offshore structures. Who said watching paint dry was boring?!

Last weekend, three courageous folk from FoundOcean abseiled from the Forth Rail Bridge. Look how high it is! 🤭 Thank you to Jade Barbour (Tech IOSH), Iain and Alison Mclean’s son Christopher for being so brave … and to everyone who sponsored them. They have raised almost £700 for Harmeny Education Trust. Harmeny is a charity very local to our Livingston HQ which works with children aged 5-18 who have experienced trauma through abuse, neglect or significant family disruption. Harmeny provides a safe and specialist learning space for these young people to rediscover the joy of childhood, make friends, develop key skills for life and get the support they need to grow and reach their full potential. Now our intrepid trio are back on terra firma, but here is a link to their JustGiving page if you would like to donate to this very worthwhile cause. https://lnkd.in/efJJJDYV #fundraising #localcommunity A Venterra Group company

In September, a group of cable and energy specialists, including a repair team from NKT, successfully repaired a failure in one of the export cables of the Gemini Wind Park, off the coast of the Netherlands. The 600 MW #windfarm was swiftly brought back online once the cable came fully online to deliver power to the grid. Whilst hearing about new #offshore wind projects is always exciting, maintaining existing #infrastructure is equally important. It is great to read about such a successful project.
