We are delighted with progress at Sheares Hall, a stunning 350-bed student accommodation scheme in Newcastle-upon-Tyne being delivering in partnership with HG Construction and on behalf of Soilbuild Group Holdings Ltd. Internal works are progressing at pace, with the furniture fitout up to level 4, roof works complete, and façade works on track for completion this Christmas. The finish line is now in sight and this exciting new scheme will be ready to welcome students in Summer 2025. Located close to the ‘Newcastle Helix’ innovation district, Newcastle University’s Business School, Urban Sciences Building and INTO centre, the scheme will offer student residents beautifully designed studio and cluster flats, and a fantastic range of amenities including a gym, study rooms, co-working area, cinema lounge and external courtyard. We have now submitted our planning application with proposals for the retrofit of Grove House in Hammersmith! 🎉   Together with our partners at Central & Provincial, Candour Properties and the excellent design team, over the past few months we have been working hard to develop this fantastic mixed-use development.    The conversion of Grove House will bring new facilities to the building, and exciting #retail additions at ground floor, which will be accessible to both the local community and future visitors. The site team at our St James’ Boulevard scheme in Newcastle-upon-Tyne are continuing to make excellent progress, with many elements of the build running ahead of schedule.   Delivered in partnership with HG Construction, the 350-bed student accommodation scheme is our first project in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.   The 11-storey concrete frame was completed at the end of June, ahead of programme. We are pleased to have been appointed as the main contractor on a new affordable homes scheme at Gunnersbury Lane for L&Q, one of the UK’s leading housing associations and developers, on behalf of Women's Pioneer Housing. Brook House will comprise 102 new homes over 15 storeys and is located opposite Acton Town Underground Station. The homes will be let at social rents to single women by Women’s Pioneer Housing, a specialised housing association founded in 1920 by suffragists. The organisation aims to support women who face inequality, abuse and disadvantages, especially in the housing market.   Initial works will involve the demolition of existing buildings on the site, which have become uneconomic to repair and are unsuitable for refurbishment. We will aim to minimise disruption throughout the construction of these new homes and our community liaison team will keep in regular contact with local residents and businesses. It will also boast a gym, study rooms, co-working area, cinema lounge and external courtyard. Located close to the ‘Newcastle Helix’ innovation district, it is ideally placed for Newcastle University’s Business School, Urban Sciences Building and INTO centre.   Construction is progressing at pace with the structural frame now five storeys up, bathroom pods arriving on-site, and the SFS and window installations commencing. We are pleased to announce our latest forward funding venture with International Students House (London) (ISH) which will see HG Living developing a new 185-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme in Kennington for the charity. ISH provides affordable accommodation to both international and UK students studying in London, and we are proud to be delivering the first brand new purpose-built student accommodation scheme in their 58-year history. HG Construction has been appointed as the main contractor on the scheme, which has been designed to achieve a 'BREEAM Excellent' rating and comprises beautifully designed shared spaces and an excellent range of amenities for students to enjoy. Construction is due to commence in early 2024 and the development is expected to complete in summer 2026. Once operational, students will benefit from being a short walk from Vauxhall tube, bus, and railway station as well as being able to enjoy local amenities such as The Oval Cricket Ground, a large supermarket and gym directly opposite, and Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens and Kennington Park a short distance away.
