Cereal Harvest 2024 = ✅ A huge thanks to all those involved over the past few weeks but especially to our harvest staff for their hard work and commitment, to our haulage partners for ensuring every load reaches @camgrain in a timely manner and to our local machinery dealers for providing great support when things do go wrong. With cereal harvest now completed the team will be moving into some more harvesting work with plenty of potatoes, onions and parsnips to focus on in the weeks and months ahead… 🚜💨

The farm team are out today harvesting the Eschalion onions that were topped and windrowed earlier in the week. This dry, settled spell of weather that we are currently enjoying is certainly making the harvesting operation much easier… ☀️🚜💨

With this years oilseed rape crop now in full flower we have been applying a fungicide and nutrient mix to ensure the crop remains disease free over the coming weeks. It was also the perfect opportunity to get some pictures of the new HORSCH sprayer in action… the high ground clearance and exceptional boom stability of this machine make it perfect for this job.

A first for us this week, using our new AGROINTELLI Robotti to drill some of this years onion crop. Our in house workshop team have fitted a liquid fertiliser kit to our existing Stanhay Webb Ltd drill, this allows accurate placement of nutrients alongside the onion seed, helping the crop get off to the best start possible. With the exception of filling with seed and fertiliser every few hours this is a completely autonomous process… 🧅🚜 Thanks to Autonomous Agri Solutions for their continuing help and support

It’s a big day for the farm today as we welcome the first of two new HORSCH self propelled sprayers to our machinery lineup. These machines represent some of the best application technology available today, allowing us to apply plant protection products in a timely, efficient and safe manner to our high value crops. Operator James Slaven couldn’t wait to get his new machine - we are keeping our fingers crossed for some better spraying weather next week so we can put the new machine to work. Big thanks to James Bowers and the team at MANNS for the supply of these machines.

With the countdown to Christmas well underway the farm and factory teams are busy working day and night to harvest, process, pack and dispatch parsnips to our customers. The recent wet weather is making harvesting conditions challenging. Thankfully due to our geographical spread, modern equipment and the generally light soil types that we grow our parsnips on, we are able to continue harvesting despite the adverse conditions.
