Inflation unchanged in August at 2.2%. When you remove volatile elements like fuel and alcohol prices, the underlying core inflation is actually rising from 3.3% to 3.6%. What does it mean for the big decision on rates tomorrow lunchtime? The expectation is that they will continue to hold because we don’t want to see inflation spring back up.
