The work of Shaniqwa Jarvis, showing with Sow & Tailor in Frieze Los Angeles’s ‘Focus’ - supported by Stone Island.   Also known for her editorial and portrait photography, with sitters including Shane McGowan and Cardi B, Jarvis’s work is rooted in personal histories, inspired by flipping through family photo albums. ‘I am always trying to communicate,’ she says, ‘with those who guide the way for me.’   ‘It’s about beauty, it’s about death, it’s about innocence’, Jarvis says of her floral still life works, which at Frieze Los Angeles take the form of photographs, collages and fabric works. Jarvis collaborated with Stone Island to translate details of these works into special edition T-shirts worn by staff at the fair. Produced by Frieze Studios   #FriezeLA

THE MARCH ISSUE IS OUT NOW As the world watched huge parts Los Angeles burn earlier this year, the fragility of our climate future has become impossible to ignore. In this issue, assistant editor Cassie Packard explores queer ecologies: how artists are reconsidering our relationship with nature—not through idyllic retreats, but by embracing a ‘radical intimacy’ with the polluted, damaged planet we inhabit. Elsewhere, we examine art’s ethical imperative to speak and act in times of crisis. From an interview with artist-activist Gregg Bordowitz on surviving catastrophe, an oral history of Semiotext(e) to Bilal Akkouche’s deep dive into resistance strategies in colonial Algiers, this issue reminds us of art’s potential for effecting change. Find the latest issue in stores and online at frieze.com. #Frieze #Issue249

Art that shifts with time, just like the city itself. Jackie Amézquita transformed the soccer fields outside Frieze Los Angeles 2025 into an immersive installation that channels the lineage of materials. Created in partnership with Dobel Tequila and Art Production Fund, the piece blends natural materials — Mammoth Lakes lava rock, Mexican corn, Indonesian blue pea flower, and Los Angeles ocean water — into a living landscape that represents human movement.

Frieze Los Angeles 2025 is now closed. 🩷 We want to take this opportunity to thank you for being a part of this year's fair. It was a collective effort to support the recovery and rebuilding of the Los Angeles art community. This year’s fair was filled with energy, reflected in strong sales for many galleries, including sold-out booths and impactful acquisitions by institutions such as the Santa Monica Art Bank and The Mohn Art Collective. From Frieze Projects 'Inside Out', curated by Art Production Fund, to our special not-for-profit collaborations, featuring Lauren Halsey's Summaeverythang Community Center and AMBOS Project’s vibrant ceramics stall, 'Frutas Coquetas', we hope you enjoyed our expanded program. Frieze Los Angeles 2025 also hosted initiatives that directly contributed to wildfire relief efforts, including the Galleries Together booth, which brought galleries together to raise funds for the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund. We also launched the Frieze Arts Alliance, a new initiative uniting major collecting institutions across the U.S. in a shared commitment to supporting galleries and strengthening LA’s creative networks. See you next year, Los Angeles!

‘Hello, Art:LIVE…’ In the latest edition of Art:LIVE at Frieze Los Angeles, Matthew McLean encounters the work of two LA artists whose work reflects the character of their city. At the Massimo de Carlo gallery stand he picks up the phone to listen to Ariana Papademetropoulos in conversations with a psychic. Over at Hilton Gallery, the seminal assemblage works of Noah Purifoy, forged in the outrage of the Watts Uprising of 1965, take on new resonances in the aftermath of the city’s recent wildfires. Watch more: https://lnkd.in/ePXaEpVD #ArtLIVE#FriezeLA
