We've made history! 🤩 Following Team Ultraviolet's epic victory as National Inspire Award Winners at the UK Championships in June, we surprised them with the opportunity to represent Great Britain at FIRST Global (IFCA). Working tirelessly over the summer to master a whole new challenge, BSG Robotics smashed it! The all-girls team brought home gold medals for the Katherine Johnson Award for Engineering Documentation. Go team!🥇 Their victory marks the first time a UK team has won an individual team award at the competition. Congratulations, Team Great Britain! You are an inspiration and have made the whole FIRST Tech Challenge UK community proud.🦾 Read all about the team's journey in our blog post below! https://lnkd.in/ee3pdgs6 #MoreThanRobotsUK #GirlsInSTEM

And they're off! ✈️ Team Great Britain heads to Athens today to compete in the 2024 FIRST Global (IFCA) Challenge. After 9 weeks of hard work, these young women in #STEM are ready to take on the world with their robot, the Chimera, by their side.🤖 From regional Inspire Award Winners to national Inspire Award Winners, and now to competing on the global stage, what a journey it's been. Good luck, team! You've got the whole FIRST Tech Challenge UK community behind you and we can't wait to see what you achieve.🦾 #MoreThanRobotsUK
What an extraordinary 9-week journey it has been for Team Great Britain, preparing for the 2024 FIRST Global (IFCA) Challenge in Athens! Our team – Caitlyn, Ella, Gizem, Dani, and Emily – has grown from a group of passionate students to a cohesive, skilled unit, ready to take on the world stage with their robot, The Chimera. Over the last two months, we've encountered countless challenges, from refining our mechanical engineering skills to perfecting code that runs our robot efficiently. Our work involved not just technical knowledge, but also deep collaboration, problem-solving, and team-building exercises that have forged a strong bond within our group. Each obstacle we faced – whether technical glitches or creative blocks – was an opportunity for growth, and the resilience shown by these young women has been nothing short of inspiring. This journey has reminded us that STEM is not just about machines and algorithms – it’s about creativity, adaptability, and the drive to solve complex real-world problems. We are excited to see where the skills they’ve developed will take them next. As we head to Athens tomorrow, the team is more than ready to represent the UK, equipped with knowledge, experience, and the determination to make a global impact. Wish us luck as we take on the world! #FIRSTGlobalChallenge #STEM #Robotics #WomenInSTEM #TeamGB #TheChimera #FutureEngineers FIRST Tech Challenge UK Bournemouth School for Girls

🚀Exciting times ahead!🚀 This week, our HQ team met up in London for a few days of knowledge sharing, strategising and team building. As a remote team, we know how important it is to come together to build stronger relationships, spark creativity and celebrate our wins. ✨ From reflecting on our leadership styles and imagining Harry Potter characters as part of our talented volunteer team, we brought the same vibrant energy that defines our programme. Countless Post-It notes and ideas later, we’re so excited for the season ahead and can’t wait to share what we’re working on with our community to expand our #impact! 🎉 Go team! 🤸 🤖Curious about what we do or how you can get involved? 📢 "MUM, WE'RE ON THE BEEB!!!" 📺 📺 6 years ago with the vision and investment of Vikrant Bhargava we started building #morethanrobots. 6 weeks ago the BBC started following BSG Robotics on their journey to the UK’s most impactful robotics tournament 🤖. Spencer Kelly has captured perfectly the intersection of where #STEM meets sport. There have been many times where we’ve almost thrown in the towel- conceding to the systemic challenges we’re seeking to overcome. We weathered a global pandemic. We’ve grappled with the what, the how, the why. Repeat. Like the dynamos in this documentary - we’ve tested, leant, iterated. Persevering and demonstrating resilience to emerge stronger & better. We’ve designed, built, coded a charity which works. We’re not building robots - we’re building an inclusive talent pipeline who will build a better future. Join us. #morethanrobots https://lnkd.in/e-CFPnS5
