CONGRATULATIONS TO STEVE WILLOUGBY ON HIS WORK ANNIVERSARY AT FSS During October 2023 we were delighted to welcome back to our team, Steve Willoughby, who rejoined the business as Engineering Manager. We are pleased to mark his first year in the new role. It’s been a busy time as Steve has been assisting with the development of the Engineering Team in all areas including Learning and Development. Part of this has been the introduction of a new training system which ensures that all our engineers are fully compliant from day one in terms of H&S and FSS basics with Quality embedded in all activities and processes. Engineers now move up through levels based on skills and ability and are provided with dedicated training and support throughout. They say time flies when you’re having fun! I can’t believe I am 6 weeks into my role at Fuel Storage Solutions Limited. Lots of people have asked me how it’s going and also ‘What do you actually sell?’ In a nutshell we provide lots of services around fuel storage (it’s in the name after all) including OFTEC inspections and fuel polishing. Our projects team have a track record of installing new tanks and pipework for some very well known large businesses. FSS – IT’S OK TO NOT BE OK, IT’S OK TO TALK……………. Today is World Mental Health day - an annual event that this year places a focus on workplace mental health. The theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of our people, our business and our wider communities. As a business we fully support our team with personal challenges – it’s part of our values as a team of caring people. Step forward Mel Alders, our Assistant Accountant and Mental Health First Aider, to share her thoughts on this important issue: “Having witnessed first-hand the effect that ill mental health can have on a person, I put myself forward for the Mental Health First Aider role at Fuel Storage Solutions Limited without hesitation. The 2 day course provided me with a better understanding of how complex and individual mental health issues can be. More importantly, it gave me the confidence to ask if someone is ok, to listen and to support those in need. My role as a Mental Health First Aider is to provide non-judgemental and completely confidential support to someone experiencing poor mental health if professional help is not required, or before professional help is accessed. As well as listening, I have been able to point people in the right direction for extra help, from courses to enhance and improve their coping mechanisms, to professional organisations that are equipped to help with specific situations. TODAY IS WORLD ANIMAL DAY ……………..and we’ve got a lot of our favourites right here with us in the office. Do you take yours to work? We have an open and inclusive attitude to having our animals at our side as much as we can and as a business we support local dog and cat charities such as the Linbee dogs rehoming centre. So we’re joining the many millions of people celebrating the diversity of the animal kingdom and reflecting on the importance of animal welfare around the world. Whether it’s our beloved companions at home or the wild animals we admire from afar, animals of all shapes and sizes play a critical role in our lives.
