When does a conference become more than just a day out of the office? Last week, I was out and about sharing the Youth Endowment Fund's evidence-informed recommendations for reducing children’s involvement in violence. It has been such a privilege to connect with education colleagues up and down the country, all of whom are passionate about keeping children safe from violence and committed to continued professional learning in this area. At each event I was struck by the breadth and diversity of experiences, knowledge and perspectives represented. Attending a conference and receiving input from speakers is great but, for me, what takes it to the next level are the new connections, interconnections and refreshing inspiration that comes from gathering together with passionate and committed colleagues. Thank you to the Association of Colleges, The Mercian Trust and Future Academies for inviting me along to your conferences. There will be greater opportunities and fewer barriers for children because of the work you are doing. Thank you.
