On ADHD and dads... "It's important to be aware of possible childhood traumas and how your parents handled situations differently based on their knowledge at the time. This isn't about blaming them but recognising generational cycles and societal expectations, such as conforming to gender roles. From an ADHD perspective, especially for males, emotional regulation and executive functioning make it hard to meet societal expectations of being an "alpha male" who has everything figured out. This struggle is common and can lead to anger and toxic masculinity, which is often a fear response to not meeting these ideals. Recognising and dismantling these patterns is essential, as is reparenting yourself.
