#Padel's growth in the UK has had a number of seminal moments - and new entry to the Padel Club Builder, Instantcourts with its #Instantpadel instant and temporary courts, has been behind more than a few. A favourite is the Game4Padel activation it supported in Westfield London shopping centre in White City almost two years ago, with a padel court built in the centre's atrium. Over the course of a long weekend footfall to the centre was estimated to have exceeded 250,000 people, delivering huge visibility to the sport. The court played host to a number of racket royalty including Andy Murray, his brother Jamie, Tia Norton and Andrew Castle. A spokesman for the centre said it was the best event they'd ever had. How to follow this? With a court in Tower Hill, London, on which a Guinness World record was set in conjunction with the Central London Alliance, no less. Here's what went down in Week 1 👍Allica Bank are the front runners, as the only team to win all 3 matches in Week 1 👍 Match of the Week was most definitely the women's contest between Monzo Bank and Mastercard, the standard was incredibly high and the teams were very evenly matched. 👨👩Mixed Doubles 🎯Worldpay beat TreasurySpring (4-0, 4-0) 🎯Volt beat Onfido (4-0 4-0) 🎯Allica Bank beat Bark (4-1 5-4) 🎯Ancoris beat Checkout (4-1 4-0) 🎯Mastercard beat Monzo (4-1 4-0) Worldpay, Volt, Mastercard and Ancoris look very strong, but I know that some teams are operating a rotation policy, so it's difficult to predict the title contenders at this early stage. There are some top players in this section Belén Ripoll, Dani Lazard, Valerie Daminet, Ognjen Belic to name a few. 👨Men's Doubles 🎯Volt beat Onfido (4-0 4-0) 🎯Allica Bank beat Bark (4-1 4-0) 🎯Monzo beat Mastercard (4-0 4-1) 🎯Checkout beat Fireblocks (4-0 4-0) Worldpay, the one men's team not to play last week, will be keeping a close eye on results. Scott Thomson and Graham Baxter will be a difficult pairing to beat. Mastercard's inspirational captain Jamie Ellis is yet to start and will bring some firepower to their line up. RIAT weekend! What a weekend! 200,000+ people, all the weather that the British summer could throw at us, lots of chasing padel and tennis balls! Overall a great weekend and a very successful demo of padel to the public. Trying to demonstrate a sport that requires such a big court with a small bit of grass and a small tennis target isn’t easy but I think we maximised it! A huge shout out to Nick and Tom from The Padel School for giving some time on Sunday. To see a crowd of people and a big queue of kids wanting to have a go was amazing. Watching the lads do their thing was really great. We had a little RAF vs TPS game but I think they took it easy on us 😂 Even managed to have a chat with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshall Sir Richard Knighton about padel and it’s in a really exciting space. Where do we go from here? The big question. This weekend has given a big boost in getting Padel recognised as an official sport in the Armed forces, my ultimate goal, and some exciting events and joint ventures are in the pipeline. Firstly I need to sit down, rest my legs and start typing all of the info up! A huge thank you to The Padel School Game4Padel and UK Padel for supporting us this weekend.
