Indie Film production, arts and action research company The Awareness Tap presents "Black and British", a new British musical dramedy series created by Executive Producers Lennina O., Zalon Thompson, and our Founder & CEO, Thomas Hoegh. Written, directed and produced by Lennina Ofori, “Black and British" captures the Black British experience through multiple lenses—Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X and beyond—using encyclopedic narratives and ethno-drama to weave interrelated stories through theatre, music, and data. The proof of concept/pilot episode was shot in May, in our Studio F at The Hive. London's new home for creative talent.
About us
Established in February 2020, Garden Studios aims to be the most friendly, supportive, and sustainable film studio in London. We’re still on a journey to reach all our sustainability goals but are proud to say that we have achieved B Corp™ certification and that we’re taking part in the Albert Studio Sustainability Standard, BAFTA’s film studio sustainability certification. Garden Studios is the largest-scale film studio in central London with a total footprint of 300,173 sq. ft. We house five sound stages totalling 48,025 sq. ft., with the largest offering at 23,350 sq. ft, additional sound-treated stages, two virtual production stages one of 3186 sq. ft, with a 12 x 4m LED volume and the other 7815 sq. ft with a 26 x 4.5m LED volume (in partnership with Anna Valley) both with wet hire and three virtual production training rooms. Supporting spaces include production offices, workshops, green rooms, costume, and hair & makeup rooms, private meeting pods that overlook our canalside, and parking. Garden Studios was built with our values deeply embedded in the fabric of our studio. We prioritise sustainability, inclusivity, education, innovation, and accessibility. We set high standards for ourselves and, though we know the best goals are achieved only after years of hard work, we are proud of the milestones we've already reached. At Garden Studios our focus is on talent, and by talent, we mean everyone involved in the creative process and who brings to life the media, film, and TV that inspire our world. We look towards the future and welcome all creatives to join us on our journey.

This #BlackHistoryMonth, with thanks to Hyde Housing Ltd, we we're delighted to have African Storyteller Alim Kamara from STORIE STORIE deliver a session to our community at The Hive. As a child living in Sierra Leone, Alim would listen to Djelis (storytellers), admiring the way they weaved lessons through their tales. Stories quickly became central to his life, and when he moved to London and started his music career, he used this same technique to achieve number one singles in both Sierra Leone and Nigeria. He established Storie Storie to share the traditional African stories of his childhood in the UK. It was an educational afternoon with Alim sharing cultural and life issues through storytelling that demonstrates success, disappointments, persistence and hard work. Thank you for visiting us at The Hive 🐝 Find out more about Storie Storie now: www.storiestorie.com

Garden Studios was thrilled to collaborate with The Production Guild of Great Britain (PGGB) last month to deliver an immersive day of learning focused on the transformative potential of Virtual Production (VP). Tailored for senior producers and production managers seeking to deepen their understanding of in-camera visual effects (ICVFX), the training provided invaluable insights aimed at enhancing production efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. Our tabletop VP stage is now ready for action 🎬 Our smaller set offers a much finer pixel pitch than our 19m wall (1.8mm vs 2.6mm). This means crisper reflections on products and the ability to shoot much closer to the wall for stunning detail. This recent shoot perfectly showcased how a small crew of just three people can achieve incredible results with the power of virtual production! 👇
Mini Virtual Production with Garden Studios 🎥 We had a lot of fun teaming up with Sony | Professional Displays and Solutions Europe to test out a new way of utilising virtual production for food and beverage product shoots 🍻 The format allows us to now shoot multi-season campaigns in one day, as well as green screen for additional changes later down the line.
