Our consultation on Selective Landlord Licensing closes next Monday, 7 October. If you’re a resident, landlord, letting agent, or business owner, you’ve only a few days left to share your views on proposals for new property licensing for private rented homes in parts of Gateshead, helping to make sure they are safe, warm, and well maintained, as well as our planned action to tackle anti-social behaviour, crime and other issues that exacerbate deprivation and inequality. Don’t delay. Complete the consultation survey now at www.gateshead.gov.uk/prs.

“It’s the people who make Bewicks what it is and I'd like to thank everyone for giving back” That’s what our wonderful Unit Manager, Gosia Ruta, shared at today’s celebration to mark one year since reopening our Civic Centre cafe, Bewicks. Gosia and her team put on a fab 1st birthday party complete with: 🎧 music and dancing from Kitsch and Disco 🎨 crafts led by the Green Heart Collective and Orbis Community 🧁 a cake sale to fundraise for the wonderful charity Guide Dogs It’s been a fun-filled day to say the least and we’re so grateful for the people, like Gosia and her team, who make Gateshead Council such a special place to work.

    • Five Bewicks colleagues gather round a trolley filled with cake. They hold balloon flowers.
    • A blue number 1 balloon floats above bookshelves. Bewicks cafe is in the background.
    • Two golden retriever guide dogs
    • A Green Heart Collective representative sits behind a table with second hand clothes on. There is a clothes rail to the right of the table with second hand clothes hanging up.
    • Three birthday cards in front of the till in Bewicks.

The first new paint on the #TyneBridge restoration project has been revealed today. A three-coat paint system is being applied to the steelwork after extensive cleaning and grit blasting work by main contractors Esh Group. The first section of new paint on the parapet and underside of the bridge deck is now complete. Due to the bridge's Grade II* listed status, the paint colour being used is a British Standard colour known as ‘Hollybush’. This is as close to the original Tyne Bridge colour as possible. Please note, the colour on the photos here might appear different depending on the light available in the area being photographed. https://lnkd.in/e9j_fM8F

    • Neil Wilkinson from Gateshead Council, Andy Radcliffe from Esh Group and Pamela Holmes from Newcastle City Council see the restoration's progress.

Scam alert! We have received reports that there is a scam operating which is targeting Premises (Alcohol) Licence holders. Licence Holders are being contacted via telephone and advised their licence is due to expire the next day and that payment is required. We would like to remind people that Gateshead Council's Licensing Service would never contact you and take payment for your licence over the phone.
