  • Today is #WorldCancerDay and the theme is #UnitedbyUnique 🌍 We are sharing our two Cancer Keys that highlight essential guidance on reducing barriers to early cancer diagnosis in vulnerable patient groups, and how we can provide effective care and support. How can we improve early detection of cancer in the homeless population? People experiencing homelessness (PEH) have higher cancer incidence and mortality rates compared to the housed population and the rates of PEH are rising. In 5-minutes we provide guidance on cancer risk factors to consider and how we can reduce barriers accessing essential cancer care. 🔑 Read our Cancer Key #WorldCancerDay

Today is #WorldCancerDay and our role in supporting the early diagnosis of cancer is at the forefront of our minds 🌍 Our GP hosts Rebecca and Sarah sat down to reflect on the first two series of our GPs Talk Cancer podcast. They share their most eye-opening discussions with specialist secondary care guests that sparked change in their practice. Through the podcast, we aim to provide primary care health professionals with an accessible resource to support earlier cancer detection. 🗣️ “You manage to be realistic about GP and not make me feel "this job is impossible, there's just too much to know", which some education podcasts do. As an appraiser and appraisal lead, I recommend you regularly!” - Jo, GP in Scotland. All episodes are available now, explore the podcast here 👇 gatewayc.org.uk/podcast/

🗣️“I’ve now changed my practice because of our conversation” Considering #WorldCancerDay, we are reflecting on key teachings from the GPs Talk Cancer podcast, and how they can help us advocate for people-centred care and early diagnosis in vulnerable patient groups as we are #UnitedbyUnique. Our GP hosts Rebecca and Sarah recall the childhood cancer episode and their memorable conversation with Dr Guy Makin. Through their expert insights, Guy discusses how GPs can support earlier and faster cancer diagnoses by examining the decision of when to send a child for a blood test.
