Team GBE Group Cycling, mark hollis, Jamie Owen and Michael Casling are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support In May, they are undertaking a Giro D’Italia Cycling Challenge in partnership with Michael Taylor Search & Selection Ltd which will consist of cycling 400K over 3 days, including a couple of mountain stages. Congratulations to our very own GBE Team Horsebox for securing 3rd place in the Dig Deeper 2024 event! 🏅 The team (Cormac Lewis, mark hollis, Mike Sullivan, Jamie Owen) took on a challenging 4-hour course featuring fell running, mountain biking, and paddle boarding across the stunning hills, rivers, and lakes of Lake Windermere. We’re proud to have been sponsors of this fantastic event for several years and will continue supporting the amazing causes it represents: 353.org and Anthony Nolan. Major Milestone Achieved! 🏗️ Delivering 10-tonne Air Source Heat Pumps and prefabricated modules to the rooftop of the prestigious 76 Southbank project on a busy day in central London required meticulous planning, precise swept path analysis, and expert plant movement. This short clip showcases the complexity of the operation. 👏 Well done to the GBE Southbank Team for achieving this major milestone, and a big thank you to Multiplex for their invaluable assistance and expertise!

Exciting news! We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Michael Watchman to Head of Sustainability at GBE. Mike has been with us since the beginning and has played a pivotal role in the design process of some of our most prestigious projects. As a senior Engineer with a wealth of experience, Mike possesses in-depth knowledge of M&E design and its environmental impact. He is passionate about sustainability and is eager to take on the challenge of reducing GBE's carbon footprint, both operationally and through our Design for Offsite Manufacturing capabilities. He is keen to collaborate with our clients, consultants, and subcontractors to understand and calculate the embodied carbon of M&E installations, and more importantly, to explore ways to reduce this figure through early collaboration and innovative thinking. What an exhilarating day for the project team at 76 Southbank! Facing fierce competition from 12 other sub-contractors, the unstoppable GBE ‘HORSE DRAGONS’ gave it their all and rowed to victory. After this success, we might even start delivering Plant Modules by Dragonboat as part of our zero-carbon emissions strategy... watch this space! A big thanks to Stanhope PLC and Multiplex for organizing this brilliant Charity Dragon Boat Race in the Docklands. Every penny raised went to support the amazing work of the Stanhope Foundation.

🚧 The Last 5%: The Toughest Part and an Opportunity to Finish Strong 🚧 The final 5% of any construction project is the toughest part. It’s the phase where attention to detail becomes critical, fatigue can set in, and the push to the finish line feels the hardest. At GBE, we engage our "Finish Strong" approach during this crucial stage. We gather our team, reignite their motivation, and discuss the challenges, lessons learned and best practices of closing out multiple workfaces to the highest standard before commissioning commences. Here’s our Project Manager, Michael Casling, engaging with our finishing team at the new Chanel Headquarters in Berkeley Square for Mace. His speech was a powerful reminder of the pride we should all feel being involved with such a prestigious project. This motivational session also brought innovative ideas from the workforce, helping us push through the final 5% and Finish Strong again.

We are delighted to announce that GBE have been shortlisted in the MEP Specialist of the Year category at the Construction News Specialists Awards! This recognition highlights our innovative approach to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and our passion for engineering off-site solutions for complex London projects.
