"In remembrance of all lives lost in wars, where every poppy stands as a symbol of collective remembrance." We were delighted to take part in this year's #PoppiestoPaddington supported by Great Western Railway (GWR) We added our hand made wreath to others at Stroud station headed for London. The wreaths will form part of a display at Paddington Station for Remembrance Day.

📅 This time last year, we launched our Black History walks, and we’d love to share and celebrate the results! 🎉 🚶♀️ Over the past year, we've delivered 6 guided Black History walks across Gloucestershire with 51 participants, including groups from NHS Staff Wellbeing Hub, Young Gloucestershire, Creative Sustainability CIC, Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom and others. These walks were based on our Black History map, which highlights 14 significant Black History sites across the county, all linked to local railway stations and walking routes. Working closely with Black Ark Media, we guided participants along these routes, uncovering historical sites while promoting sustainable travel. Participants not only learned about Black History but also connected with nature and engaged in physical activity through rail-linked walks. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many saying the experience gave them a stronger connection to both their local history and the British countryside. For some, it was their first time exploring these areas by train, sparking a newfound interest in discovering more of their local heritage and surroundings. ❤️ Why We Did It: Authenticity and connectivity are at the heart of our projects to link underrepresented communities with sustainable travel. We were and are determined to work with local people from underrepresented communities to ensure the walks and our projects truly reflected their stories and experiences. Our collaboration with Black Ark Media helped us create walks that were not only educational but also meaningful and respectful of the heritage they represented. 🌟 Thank you to Active Gloucestershire for funding this project! We’re dedicated to continuing our work exploring underrepresented railway history and will be sharing details of a new project soon! 🚂✨ Download the map here: https://lnkd.in/e3mbTDCV #BlackHistory #CommunityWalks #CommunityRail #SustainableTravel #InclusiveHistory #RailwayHistory #ExploringTogether
