Check out this theatrical Greenwich village townhouse featured in Architectural Digest designed by Studio Shamshiri featuring our iconic Conversation Piece. Its a charismatic piece with a story to tell... The Conversation Piece sets a new standard of seating arrangements. Originally the “borne settee”, a luxurious circular sofa from the 19th century which was often found in opulent homes and public spaces, it became a status symbol during the Gilded Age, allowing guests to view their surroundings while simultaneously holding discreet conversation. It was often referred to as the “divan de milieu.”   Key features of this awe-inspiring piece are the elaborate deep buttoning, the decorative ruching along the bottom and seat joints, and glittering nail-head details that embellish it. Its ability to accommodate multiple seats extends its versatility. Unique bespoke versions of this Conversation Piece have been crafted to seat over twenty guests, making it the perfect cross between a Banquette and a Conversation Piece.   The Conversation Piece is unique, a pure fusion of artistry, luxury and comfort. In a nutshell, our iconic Conversation Piece doesn’t just occupy space; it transforms it. It becomes the focal point, prompting both discussions and admiration. https://lnkd.in/ea-fgZJH

The recent news of Sally McQuillan's passing has deeply saddened all of us at George Smith. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her children, Maddy and Gene, and the entire Raoul Textile Family.    We will always cherish the beautiful collaboration that resulted in the "Raoul Textiles for George Smith Furniture" collection. George Smith was immensely proud to be part of it as we saw the creation of many astounding items adorned in Raoul Textiles.    This partnership has truly been a highlight of our George Smith collaborations, and Sally will be dearly missed by all of us.    Warmest wishes, The George Smith Team
