Last week GetMe2 sent out a little box of goodies, encouraging residents to take a break with a cuppa and a Nestle KitKat whilst completing our annual travel survey. Delivery included walking 85 miles and 170,000 steps around the sites in just three days! We were happy to meet some residents and some excited dogs along the way, we respectfully gave the local swan at one site a wide berth. Despite the rain, we enjoy providing Travel Plan Coordinator Services for our clients. A great day with SAJ Transport Consultants and GetMe2 staff enjoying our coastline. We managed some sustainable and active travel to the location with our dolphin spotting enroute!
Our year end is September, coinciding as it does with the company’s birthday. This year we reached the ripe old age of 17. We know the debt of gratitude we owe to every one of our colleagues, past and present, who have each helped us to get to where we are today. This year has been no exception, and the efforts of the current cohort has resulted in further expansion, and we have just welcomed 2 new members to the team. Exciting times. By way of a small thank you we decided to have a day out of the office. A well-earned jolly! The day started with most of us meeting at Monkseaton station before setting off to walk along the coast (as part of active travel week) to Tynemouth. We were even blessed with seeing dolphins off the coast at Whitley Bay. At Tynemouth we descended onto the beach at King Edwards Bay, where we were coached by Claire and her son Andrew to create the new SAJ Transport Consultants and GetMe2 logos, before finishing off with an excellent meal at Rileys Fish Shack. There are worse ways to spend a day. PS A massive thank you to Claire and Andrew, at soul2sand Sand artist without you it would not have happened.

Great to see this product launched. Charging ebikes within the building envelope can be an issue for some insurances, this provide an alternative solution. #ebike #cycleparking #activetravel #cycleinfrastructure

Really helpful graphic from Wheels For Wellbeing
There's understandable confusion about appropriate spacing for bollards, with many professionals we've spoken to believing cars can fit through any gaps wider than 1.2m. As our graphic shows, modern cars can't fit through any gaps smaller than 1.7m without significant damage, even if they're steered precisely straight through the barrier - and absolutely will not fit through 1.5m gaps: Vehicle security barrier bollards are spaced with 1.2m gaps, as these are designed to work in pairs to stop high-speed vehicle attacks on buildings and busy spaces (1.5m gaps would be OK so long as each was strong enough on its own). This is not the same requirement as preventing casual driving onto cycle routes; Bollards placed to restrict vehicle entry onto cycle routes need minimum 1.5m gaps and straight-line approach directions, ensuring turning circles for the approach have an absolute minimum external radius of 4m. This spacing ensures that #Disabled people #Cycling have equitable access to active travel routes. Please contact us for further information and for the references used to produce this graphic. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid
