About us
The Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) is an Executive Agency of the HM Treasury, and is the specialist provider of internal audit services to central government. Our vision is to be the primary, trusted and expert provider of consistent, high quality audit and assurance services across Government, that are valued by our customers and recognised as a catalyst for improvement. Our Service is one in which the most talented want to work and are proud to say they have worked. We provide internal audit services and support for the UK government. Our customers include all ministerial departments and many non-ministerial departments, agencies and public bodies. The GIAA also provides assurance services to the European Commission, providing both the UK Government and the European Commission with advice and assurance on the implementation of the various programmes such as the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Furthermore, the GIAA is home to our Counter Fraud and Investigation team who work to deliver and improve counter fraud services for government departments, agencies and the wider public sector. Our people work flexibly across our client base and in regional offices. Most of our client- facing professionals are qualified internal auditors and/or accountants. The Agency has an exciting future ahead as we continue to provide better insights, better outcomes.

Colleagues from our Data Analytics team Rida Ahmed, Katy Morgan, and Lauren Petrie and Glyn Hughes from our communication team were thrilled to be amongst AI enthusiasts at HM Treasury’s Innovation Day last week. Our Director of Innovation and Development Iain McGregor also participated in a panel discussion on the use of AI. The team were on hand to answer questions and share more about our impressive Insights, Writing and Risk Engines. The day also included an awards ceremony where we were pleased to have been honoured with two Innovation Award certificates. A huge congratulations to our Data Analytics team and our Annual Planning project team. We were lucky to be a part of a similar event #internalaudit24 conference back in October where we had a GIAA stand to share details of our work, our insights and our innovative use of AI.
