And we're off! Our partners in the #EmployeeRacetoZero have made a stunning start to this new global initiative. By lunchtime day one, an incredible 406 climate steps were taken on!!! An amazing line up of SMEs are now on the starting line, showing that people power, when it comes to employees, can be a real game-changer 💚🌏💪 Over the next few weeks, we'll share lots of fascinating new insights, take action together and share inspiration, so we can show the world how much impact people can have when we come together. This first week we will ‘Go ‘Green at Work’ and focus on saving energy in the office, business travel, commuting and reducing waste at work. If you're not taking part in this year's competition, you can still 'watch the game' and be a part of the change we all need to see. Learn how you can green at work, take a step in Giki Zero, and encourage your place of work to get in touch. Switching to a diet with more veggies, or even going fully plant-based, is one the biggest changes someone can take to reduce their carbon footprint. But convincing a reluctant family to cut back on meat can feel like a constant battle, especially when family-favourite meals and long-standing habits are centred around it. Meat is often seen as the go-to, and changing these preferences might stir up resistance, especially for children and teenagers who might be less keen on vegetables. So, here are a few tips to help get everyone on board. #Thinkcarbon #sustainability

Yesterday we hosted our Employee Race to Zero team captains call. It is exciting to see so many amazing people and companies that cover so many parts of society come together, make a positive impact, and prevent the worst effects of this climate crisis. Through the Employee Race to Zero, we can show how people working together for a common goal can drive real change. We can make changes in our own lives, we can influence others, and by acting together, we can amplify each other’s impacts. And, of course, we will have fun along the way. So, a big welcome to our organisations already on the starting line, and it’s not too late if you’ve got serious FOMO and want to take part. It’s a great way to take acton ahead of #COP29. Last night we won silver at the Corporate Engagement Awards for "Best environmental or Sustainable Programme" for the work we did with Springer Nature Group focused on the Sustainable Development Goals. Go team!
🥳We won silver!!💚 Last night at the Globe, London, we celebrated our silver podium position at the Corporate Engagement awards for “Best environmental or sustainable programme” Thank you Sofia Szmirnov Gemma Fagbadegun Richard Davies Nicola Jones from Springer Nature Group for a wonderful evening to celebrate a very successful employee engagement campaign we ran together, all focused on the Sustainable Development Goals. In just 3 weeks, over 1,000 employees joined the campaign and achieved 243,454kg carbon savings. Here’s some tips for Sofia Szmirnov who led the campaign on how they achieved such great success: “Having a targeted communications plan for our internal audience helped a lot, but what I think really made an impact is that we made it fun & easy to participate. Bringing an element of fun competition into the campaign was crucial for us to get wider engagement – this was an idea that our CEO suggested to us to widen participation across the company – and he was right! We created a video of the team leaders – 2 people for each of 9 teams. Since they’re well-known and influential people in their areas of the business their involvement inspired and encouraged colleagues to get involved. Each team was championing a charitable cause and competed for a spot on the leaderboard to win a larger donation to their chosen charity." Incentives, a good plan with excellent comms, good data, and senior support are some of the key ingredients for a good employee engagement campaign. And this one was a great one, and delighted we won an award together for it. Congratulations to our brilliant team at Giki Helen Chambers and Emily Varns.
