📢 The UK's first Tech-Enabled Care Economy market map is out! I loved working on this with Lois Day and Dalia Aga-Shaw at 3 Sisters Ventures (3SV) Tech-enabled care is an exciting, impactful and often overlooked investment opportunity, with the potential to deliver lucrative returns. The rising demand for elderly care, women’s growing participation in the workforce, changing gender perceptions and a more tech-savvy population all underline its potential. 🎯The aim of this map is to help VCs, founders, operators and advisors to track up-and-coming UK headquartered companies in this space The market map divides the sector into several core segments: 👶 ParentTech 👵 AgeTech (covering ageing in place & out of home) 🏠 Household Management 👐 Supported Living (i.e. helping those with disabilities) ⚰ End of Life & ➕ Other Care Technology Let us know in the comments section if you think a company is missing ⬇️ #CareEconomy #VC #WomenInVenture #StartUps #Tech #Entrepreneur

📢 3SV is delighted to announce that we are publishing the first market map on the UK’s tech-enabled care economy. Tech-enabled care is an exciting, impactful and often overlooked investment opportunity - which we believe has the potential to deliver lucrative returns. The rising demand for elderly care, women’s growing participation in the workforce, changing gender perceptions and a more tech-savvy population all underline its potential. Since 3SV was founded, the care sector has been a key part of our investment focus, but we want to do more to improve broader understanding of the opportunities for technological disruption in this space. 📍We are therefore releasing this market map to help VCs, founders, operators and advisors to track up-and-coming UK headquartered companies in this space. The market map divides the sector into several core segments: - ParentTech - AgeTech (covering ageing in place & out of home) - Household Management - Supported Living (i.e. helping those with disabilities) - End of Life - Other Care Technology Let us know if you think a company is missing or fill in the Google Form (link in the comments section) ⬇️ A big thank you to Rachel Drapper for leading this important research for 3SV. We hope it is a useful tool and we look forward to continuing to develop it alongside the wider community ❤️ #VC #CareEconomy

Tackling Loneliness and Depression Amongst the Elderly in the UK Recent findings from Age UK highlight a concerning reality: over 2 million individuals in England aged 75 and above live alone, confronting the profound challenges of loneliness and depression. At Gladys, we are acutely aware of the significant impact these issues can have on the health and wellbeing of the elderly. Loneliness and depression extend beyond mere emotional states; they markedly affect physical health, heightening the risk of conditions such as heart disease, stroke, and cognitive decline. The importance of social interaction and emotional support in combating these challenges is paramount. How Home Care Can Assist: Companionship: Our carers provide essential social interaction, offering a listening ear, a hand to hold, and a heart that understands. Engagement: We encourage involvement in hobbies, activities, and social gatherings to stimulate both mind and body. Support: Beyond physical assistance, our team offers emotional support, helping to navigate feelings of loneliness or depression with empathy and understanding. Connection: We facilitate communication with family and friends, helping to bridge the gaps created by physical distance. In light of this, it’s crucial to acknowledge that no one should face these challenges in isolation. Services like those provided by Gladys offer more than just daily task assistance; they bring companionship, warmth, and a renewed sense of community. Let us unite to illuminate these issues and foster a society where the elderly feel connected, supported, and valued. #Loneliness #Depression #ElderlyCare #Companionship #Gladys #MentalHealthAwareness

At Gladys, we understand that supporting the elderly extends beyond in-home care—it’s about ensuring their daily life runs smoothly and comfortably. Our carers are here to assist with a variety of errands, playing a crucial role in maintaining independence and quality of life for those we care for. Here’s how: Grocery Shopping: Keeping the pantry stocked with nutritious foods, catering to dietary needs and preferences. Prescription Pickups: Ensuring timely collection of medications and any pharmacy needs. Post Office Runs: Helping with mailing letters and parcels, and managing any postal tasks. Banking Assistance: Banking assistance: Supporting with tasks like depositing cheques and arranging cash withdrawals for shopping. Utility Bills and Errands: Paying bills or handling necessary errands to keep household affairs in order. Each errand is carried out with a personal touch, respecting the preferences and needs of those in our care. This comprehensive approach to home care supports not just the physical well-being of our clients but also their independence and connection to the community.

Comparing Costs: Care Homes vs Home Care Deciding on care options for elderly relatives requires a clear understanding of the financial implications. Here's a succinct comparison: Care Homes provide an all-inclusive solution, covering accommodation, round-the-clock care, and meals. However, this comprehensive approach means paying for a full range of services and the upkeep of the facility, which can lead to higher overall costs. Home Care, by contrast, is customised to the specific needs of the individual, ensuring you only pay for the services required. This can result in significant savings, particularly if the assistance needed is limited or focused on particular tasks. Where Home Care Can Save Money: Bespoke Care: With home care, you're charged only for the care hours you need, avoiding the 24/7 expenses associated with care homes. Living Costs: Continuing to live at home means maintaining your existing living expenses without the added costs of a care home. Adaptability: The level of care can be adjusted as needs evolve, without the fixed costs tied to care home living. No residential home can meet the needs and preferences of each individual living in their facility. With home care, you choose your activities, your interests and work within your unique schedule and get support to maintain this. It offers truly person-centred support from the way that you like your meals cooked to the time that you like to get up in the morning. #ElderlyCare #HomeCare #CareHomes #CostEfficiency #Gladys
