Did you know? The Labour Party’s upcoming ethnicity pay gap reporting legislation will require UK employers to publicly disclose pay disparities between ethnic groups as part of the wider #MakeWorkPay initiative. This move aims to increase transparency, reduce inequality, and drive accountability in the workplace. For organisations, it’s not just about meeting regulatory requirements. However, it is also a chance to examine how pay policies impact equity and take meaningful action to close any gaps. The good news is that Global Diversity Practice is here to help! We are equipped to support organisations in analysing and interpreting their pay data to uncover root causes of disparities and #MoveBeyondCompliance—whether they arise from recruitment biases, barriers to promotion, or unequal development opportunities. Our expertise enables you to identify key areas of targeted, effective interventions that can drive lasting impact. By partnering with GDP, you’ll ensure compliance with future legislation and build a more inclusive and transparent workplace. This proactive approach helps your organisation #BeAheadOfTheCurve, embedding equity and inclusion into your core business practices and fostering a thriving work environment for all. #DEI #EthnicityPayGap #PayTransparency #WorkplaceEquity #GlobalDiversityPractice #FairPay #Inclusion #MoveBeyondCompliance

Reports show that 25% of UK employees experienced conflict or abuse in the past year, with women disproportionately affected. Alarmingly, 52% of women have faced some form of sexual harassment in the workplace (TUC). Despite growing awareness, many organisations are still falling short, with 9% of employers admitting they aren’t doing enough to tackle the issue effectively (CIPD). With the Worker Protection Act coming into force in October 2024, employers will be legally required to take proactive steps like conducting risk assessments, implementing robust reporting mechanisms, and providing employee training. These measures aim to reduce harassment and hold employers accountable. Now is the time for employers to take action to ensure their workers are safe from sexual harassment and that their organisations comply with the new regulations. At Global Diversity Practice, we have extensive experience in helping businesses implement robust processes and policies aimed at preventing and addressing sexual harassment. As we acknowledge Black Awareness Month, it's important to reflect on the state of leadership diversity in today’s workplaces. A 2020 report reveals 4.7% of leadership roles are held by BAME individuals in the UK, with Black individuals holding just 1.5% of these roles. This gap in representation highlights the slow pace of change and the untapped potential of diverse leadership. While some strides are being made, there’s still much more to be done to ensure leadership reflects the diversity of the workforce and society. At Global Diversity Practice, we have extensive experience in helping organisations develop strategies and processes that support inclusion and create pathways for diverse talent to thrive. Please reach out to us if you're interested in learning how we can support your organisation.

Happy Black History Month 2024! This year's theme, Reclaiming Narratives, invites us to take control of our stories and celebrate the rich legacy of Black history worldwide with authenticity and pride. At Global Diversity Practice, we recognise the importance of amplifying Black voices and ensuring that history is told by those who lived it and shared with all communities. The Black community's contributions, struggles, and triumphs deserve to be celebrated, and this month is a powerful reminder to challenge the status quo and redefine how Black history is shared and taught. Let's honour this moment by amplifying diverse perspectives and championing the importance of representation. While there are several developments on the horizon under the new Labour Government, one important update for employers is the upcoming legal duty, effective from October 2024, requiring businesses to actively prevent sexual harassment in the workplace—including from third parties. Failure to comply could result in a 25% uplift in compensation for claims, with no cap on payouts for harassment cases. This places a greater responsibility on organisations to protect employees. Prioritising a harassment free workplace not only focuses on employee safety but also boosts engagement and motivation, leading to lower rates of turnover and absenteeism. At GDP, we have an extensive track record in supporting our clients across various sectors, at all levels, and across diverse geographies with our consultancy, learning, and digital solutions. We are here to assist you in building a harassment-free workplace that fosters engagement, motivation, and long term success. If your organisation wants to ensure compliance and create a safer work environment, contact us today.
