It’s always good to see brands experimenting with new store formats. The photos below are from Coach Play, a concept the handbag brand, rolled out some time ago in various cities. The idea behind the format is a more relaxed, less generic space than Coach’s traditional stores – and one that draws more on local heritage and culture. The Coach Create counter is an interesting addition. It allows products to be customized by experts who can guide shoppers. It adds to the playful nature of the store and to giving the customer more control over what they’re buying. Coachtopia – Coach’s resale offering – is also featured in store. The store was pretty busy, especially with younger consumers. A big part of Coach's growth over the past 5 or so years has been generated off expanding its appeal and sales to younger generations. #retail #retailnews #stores #formats #handbags #merchandising Coach Tapestry

Here are some interesting stories from the world of retail for Monday, October 28: 🦃 Target has joined the list of retailers offering a cheaper Thanksgiving meal than last year with an offering that includes turkey, stuffing and five side dishes for $5 less than in 2023. ☕️ Americans are pinching pennies on coffee. Some are cutting back on trips to Starbucks. Others are hunting for sales at the grocery store — or filling reusable K-Cups with their own ground coffee to save. 🏢 Amazon is in talks to lease all of HSBC’s 350,000 square feet at 452 Fifth Avenue in New York when the bank moves next year. The expansion would be next door to Amazon's NYC HQ, the former Lord & Taylor Building. 🍔 McDonald's’s Quarter Pounder burgers will return to roughly 900 restaurants this week after the fast-food giant pulled the menu item linked to a deadly E. coli outbreak. 📺 With the election quickly approaching, some brands and companies are facing more expensive digital ad rates as political candidates and retailers battle for Americans’ attention. 🥣 Chobani is experiencing significant growth in its Greek yogurt business, doubling its earnings in the first nine months of 2023, driven by the popularity of its high-protein yogurt during the Ozempic era. 🎄 The UK's John Lewis Partnership is embarking on its largest seasonal recruitment drive in the UK, hiring 12,500 temporary staff this festive season, an increase of 4,100 from last year. 🚫 New York state regulators have banned the distribution of cannabis pills that are also infused with caffeine — a combo that’s been a popular pick-me-up for fitness buffs and office professionals. 📱 As TikTok Shop gears up for the holiday season, the social media company is going all-in on livestreaming to boost sales. TikTok is betting that the busy holiday period will be a key time to ramp up livestreaming. 🇦🇺 Mosaic Brands, the parent company of several Australian fashion labels including Rivers, Katies, and Noni B, has entered voluntary administration, jeopardizing nearly 3,000 jobs. 👩🏻🔬 Hormel Foods sold its Heath Labs business to Lyons Magnus, a global foodservice and ingredient maker. The price was not disclosed. #retail #retailnews #economy #DailyRetailNews
