We are deeply honoured to share the recent delivery of a new Maxus EV minibus to Go Start Community Transport. This milestone, however, comes with mixed emotions as we remember John Phillips, who was instrumental in this procurement but sadly passed away before seeing the fruits of his labour. John, the founder of Go Start Community Transport in Sudbury, Suffolk, was a true beacon of dedication and compassion. Since 2011, he tirelessly worked full-time, without pay, to ensure the success of Go Start, providing vital dial-a-ride services to the residents of Sudbury and its surrounding villages. His commitment extended beyond transportation, as he also organised seasonal outings, creating memorable experiences for many. John's legacy is profoundly felt in the delivery of this new electric vehicle, which he passionately championed. The minibus, named ‘Johny Boy’ in his memory—a loving nickname from his sister—stands as a testament to his vision and tireless efforts. Supported by Suffolk County Council and Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, ‘Johny Boy’ will continue to serve the elderly and less able residents of Sudbury for years to come. From all of us at GM Coachwork, we extend our heartfelt condolences to John's family and the entire Go Start community. We are proud to have been a part of this journey and to see John’s dream come to fruition. His spirit will live on through every journey ‘Johny Boy’ makes, ensuring his legacy of service and care continues. Rest in peace, John. Your impact will never be forgotten.
