🌟 Embracing the Power of Physical Activity for a Healthier Future! 🌟
At Go Well, we passionately believe in the transformative power of physical activity to enhance our lives. Our work is centred on developing healthy minds and bodies through the six dimensions of wellness. The Six Dimensions of Wellness are as relevant to us in our lives as they are to children.
🔍 What is Wellness? Wellness is often misunderstood and confused with similar terms. It’s an active process encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing - being healthy in body and mind by practicing daily healthy habits.
🏅 The Six Dimensions of Wellness Wellness comprises six key areas: physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and occupational. These areas work together to create a balanced, vibrant, and prosperous life. By making simple healthy choices daily, we move closer to achieving wellness.
💪 Physical wellness plays a crucial role in our overall wellbeing. It involves eating well, sleeping well, and exercising regularly. Feeling physically good boosts our self-esteem, aids self-control, and provides a sense of direction.
Here are three suggestions for you to achieve optimal physical wellness:
Eat Healthily 🥗 A healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables benefits both short- and long-term health. Get the free NHS Food Scanner app and start finding healthier swaps.
Exercise Regularly 🏃♂️ Daily activity strengthens both body and mind. Children aged 5–18 should aim for at least 60 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity daily. Adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity a week or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity a week. Do strengthening activities that work all the major muscle groups (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms) on at least 2 days a week.
Get Enough Sleep 💤 Sleep is vital for physical and mental health. Quality sleep aids development and performance.
Join us in making wellness a priority for ourselves and our pupils. Together, we can create a healthier future!
