There’s something unique about industry awards, where everyone comes together with a shared purpose – to celebrate excellence in their field. That was exactly the vibe last Friday at the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards. It was a fantastic night, shining a spotlight on everything that makes the local logistics industry remarkable. From rising stars to trailblazers and standout initiatives – the evening was a real testament to the talent and innovation in the sector. A huge thank you to Ben Thomas for the invite. It was even more special sharing the night with Lorraine Lewis BCAh, Barry Tong, Jessica Le Page, Anna Punch and Jason Inwood - thanks for the company 🤗 And of course well done to Charlotte Patrick and her team for pulling off another amazing event. The Northamptonshire logistics community and the wonderful finalists and winners should be very proud. Awards ceremony season is very much up and running, and I’m here for it.

Friday night was all about Northamptonshire organisations and business owners celebrating who they are, how far they’ve come and where they’re going. What a joy it was to be at the NNBN Awards and to share in the success of Lucienne Shakir (MEd) who scooped Best Business Person of the Year. You can’t help feeling inspired when you’re surrounded by people who really care about their organisations, communities and industries. Friday night was all that and more. Epic stories of triumph over adversity, courage, focus, success and determination…we heard it all. I’ve lost count of how many award entries I’ve written for clients over the years (and I didn’t write Lucienne’s either - that was my brilliant colleague Judith Spear). Only more recently have we started tracking the entries we craft for clients, what I do know though is that business owners love a thorough and tailored questioning process. They say see it as a real learning curve and benchmarking exercise - whatever the outcome. I do hope ALL the finalists and winners on Friday realise that because they really are all superstars to have shared their story and come so far. Their journey doesn’t end here. Of course a special mention and thank you has to go to Marie and Simon Cox for hosting the perfect awards event. It really was one to remember for sure.

Sometimes the best PR opportunities are not the ones you plan for, but the ones you’re ready to jump on. It’s true. You might have seen in the recent Goldings Communications newsletter how Judith Spear supported a client to land national and local media coverage just by being quick to act and staying in tune with relevant journalist enquiries. It’s one of many examples we can share where we’ve helped organisations get set up and ready, so that when a relevant and worthwhile PR opportunity comes around, we are looking out for it and acting fast on their behalf.
