Traditional CVs tell you little about an individual's potential, even less so for emerging talent. We're changing that.
About us
Traditional CVs tell you little about an individual's potential, even less so for emerging talent. We're changing that to create fair opportunities. GotDis has built a bespoke, scientifically validated psychometric test, designed to assess the potential of emerging talent, based on their skills, motivations and aspirations. Not receiving feedback is one of the biggest pain points for candidates and a lack of career development is a core reason why employees leave a company. Those from less privileged backgrounds are disproportionately affected when workplace support is inadequate. Our customers receive individual profiles for their candidates and employees, enabling employers to understand people’s potential. Participating users receive a personalised report providing tailored feedback and career advice to help them improve their employability.

Looking for work right now in a challenging market can be tough, even more so for emerging talent starting out. Perseverance is key but to all those recruiters ghosting 👻 candidates, please prioritise relationship building! AI has transformed the recruitment industry, in some ways for the better, in other ways, not so much. As recruiters have implemented technology to automate shortlisting candidates from CVs, candidates are now using AI to optimise their CV and apply for vacancies at volume making the process very transactional. The result for candidates is a constant stream of rejections, zero feedback on how to improve and getting 'ghosted' when you do manage to connect with someone! There are lots of great recruiters out there who try to avoid people having this experience, but for those who don't: Remember that relationship building is key. Candidates will remember you and one day they'll be in positions where are hiring and need to source a recruiter! Advice for emerging talent: 💪 Persevere - keep going, at some point you will get noticed! 🤗 Find support with others going through the same experience so you know you're not alone! 👨🔧 👩🔧 Build your network and seek advice and opportunities through them. 🤩 Speak to recruiters in your local agencies to get advice on how to improve your approach as currently they're getting inundated with applications! At GotDis, we want to help 'humanise' the recruitment process so emerging talent can promote who they are, rather than optimising the data in their CV!! #recruitment #ghosting #candidateexperience #emergingtalent #students #graduate #graduaterecruitment #employability

We recently collaborated with a group of Masters students at the University of Reading to conduct research into whether there is a 'soft skills' perception gap between students and employers. Scroll through our post for further insight on what we found 🤓 The research posited that the main drivers of the perception gap were: 📚 Inadequate training methods 🤼 Ineffective hiring practices 🎓 Lack of alignment between educational curricula and industry needs GotDis will soon be launching our Employability Quiz for employers to hire emerging talent more effectively and equitably....so watch this space 🚀 A huge shout out to those that worked on the project 🙌 - please connect with them to help grow their network 🤩 - Russell Yeoh, Feranmi Adeoye, Aaron Petty and Moses Besa. Thanks also to Giovanni Razzu for providing this opportunity and our very own Sorrel Knott for coordinating the project. Lastly, thanks to University of Reading Careers, Fiorella Illes, Maria Papantoniou and Billah Qureshi for enabling the students to gather the data! #skillsgap #employability #students #graduate #graduaterecruitment #employers #universities #highereducation #transferableskills

To support emerging talent with fair opportunity, we believe it's important to understand what influences inequity for underrepresented groups. Read our latest article by Sorrel Knott on the impact of cultural capital via FE News ➡ https://lnkd.in/epDq4cwz "Cultural capital refers to the non-financial social assets that help individuals gain advantages in society. Essentially, it’s about the knowledge, behaviours, and skills that one can draw upon to demonstrate cultural competence and social status. For employers, understanding cultural capital is crucial as it influences both employee performance and organisational culture. Studies show that employees who possess high levels of cultural capital often exhibit better problem-solving skills, greater creativity, and enhanced adaptability in diverse work environments. However, cultural capital is often aligned with Western or middle-class values. For example, networks built in educational institutions and cultural venues can be dominated by white, Western norms and values, making it harder for those from other backgrounds to integrate and leverage these networks. Moreover, fostering cultural capital within a company can also enhance inclusivity and equity. Organisations that recognise and value diverse forms of cultural capital tend to have higher employee satisfaction and retention rates." Read our article for our recommendations on how employers and higher education providers can support equitable opportunity. #equity #diversityequityandinclusion #graduaterecruitment #emergingtalent #apprentices #students #graduates #culturalcapital #networking #fairopportunity

Whilst AI has many advantages, recruitment has not yet caught up with the potential negative impact. The job market is tough right now and not helped by people auto-generating job applications. Here’s some tips and a reminder that your ultimate advantage is YOU. You’re human, so connect and network to help improve your chances of getting noticed. Careers are no longer linear. It’s very unusual for us to stay with one employer for life. Your career will take lots of twists and turns along the way and that’s usually when you learn the most about yourself and what success looks like for you! We recommend these tips to help keep you motivated during those times when reaching your career goals doesn’t quite go to plan: 🧘 Don’t get distracted by your connection’s achievements on social media! 🏃➡️ Unfortunately, privilege still plays a part in people’s careers, so others may have had a head start. 💪 It’s not a race and the lessons you learn along the way will make you stronger. 🤔 Think about what success means to you and break it down into tangible short to long term goals. 😄 Job title and salary may seem like obvious goals but it may not be what makes you happy. 🤝 Appreciate the small wins along the way and focus on building your network as they will help you on your journey. 🤗 Re-frame your mindset, consider the challenges you’ve overcome and value what you have achieved!

Forget about what brand you want to work for, you could be disappointed once you get there! A brand name might attract you through the door but it won’t be what keeps you there. What’s more important is the culture. Does it align with your values? We recommend going deeper than the values on a company’s website. Here are some suggestions to help identify potential future employers: ✍️ What industries appeal? 💡 Are the leaders potential role models? 💻 What are the ways of working? 🤝 Who is the team and those you’d be collaborating with? 🔍 Check online platforms such as Glassdoor to see what employees say. 🎤 Ask the right questions at an interview such as ‘Why do you enjoy working at “company”?’ Map out what’s important to you - your values, the ideal team or leaders, the behaviours and values you respect and how you build trust with others. The likelihood is that your ideal company to work for is one you’ve never heard of before!

Feeling the pressure to decide what career to choose before your career has really begun? 🚨 You’ll have lots of moments in your career where you evaluate where you’re going and that’s OK. But don’t limit yourself to thinking a certain job title is the goal! It may be that you are set on following a particular path, but remaining flexible is important as your career choice may not be for you once you get there. We recommend mapping the following out on a virtual whiteboard (like LucidSpark, Miro or Canva): ✅ Motivations ✅ Aspirations ✅ Interests ✅ Skills ✅ Experience Create flexible goals that could align to several careers. Your first role may not be your ideal role but it will help you to start thinking about what you like and don’t like about work. Continue shaping your whiteboard and goals as you learn and adapt. Need help defining your motivations, aspirations and skills - take our employability quiz: https://lnkd.in/es2ubjdG #emergingtalent #careers #employability

Who remembers taking a survey at school that advises which job title you should pursue? Well, not much has changed when it comes to career advice! Fixating on job titles limits your opportunities. Focus on who you are, then learn and adapt as you go. #careeradvice #emergingtalent #futureleaders #skills #students #graduates #careergoals #organisationaldevelopment #careerdevelopment
