✨️ Thank you to the Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service Youth Engagement Service (YES) Tom Davies MRTPI FRSA Dr. Bonnie Kwok FRSA and the YES Mascot Bob 🐶 for representing our service at the annual Network CB23 Primary School Careers Convention, which took place at the Great Barn, Bourn, Cambridge on 8 October 2024. We are pleased that Cllr Dr. Tumi Hawkins, Lead Cabinet Member for Planning at South Cambridgeshire District Council attended the event and supported the YES Team.
🏆 The award-winning YES Team is experienced in planning, designing and delivering impactful activities for children and young people nationally.
👷🏾♀️ This Convention is one of the many outreach projects which the YES team take part in. It was an opportunity to encourage over 500 primary school students from the Greater Cambridge region, aged between 10 and 12, to consider pursuing careers in the built and natural environment professions, and to learn about the basics of placemaking and citizenship.
🏗 The YES Team gave useful advice on the subjects that they need to study at GCSE, A-Level and university in order to obtain relevant qualifications to become a town planner, urban designer, architect, landscape architect, arboriculturist, heritage specialist and ecologist. Children also learnt about the basics of placemaking through fun games and quizzes.
😊 The YES Team gave an introduction to its popular Summer Work Experience Programme, which aims to offer young people the opportunity to gain practical experience in the planning department.
📊 The YES Team also supported the Policy & Performance Team at South Cambridgeshire District Council: the Team ran an in-person survey with over 350 children to understand what they considered important in terms of corporate priorities for the Council, using their award-winning youth engagement methods. It generated useful qualitative and quantitative data to help plan community facilities for our youth population.
👍 We are pleased that over 500 students benefitted from our youth engagement service. Our partner schools included: Barnabas Oley CE Primary School, Barton CE (VA) Primary School, Bourn CE Primary Academy, Caldecote Primary School, Comberton Village College, Coton CE Primary School, Dry Drayton CE Primary School, Gamlingay Village Primary School, Hardwick and Cambourne Primary School, Haslingfield Endowed Primary School, Jeavons Wood Primary School, Meridian Primary School, Monkfield Park Primary School ane the Vine Inter-Church Primary School.
🤝 Thank you to Network CB23 Jill Foster for inviting the YES Team to support this important youth engagement event.
