A new report from the Public Accounts Committee raises concerns over the roll out of public #EV charging, highlighting regional divides and inequalities for different groups of drivers. The report finds that approximately a third of the 114 motorway service areas had yet to meet DfT’s original ambitions for each to have six ultra-rapid charge points by the end of 2023. In 2020, Government announced £950m to future-proof electricity capacity on strategic roads. The PAC’s report finds that nearly five years later, DfT had yet to issue any of this funding. Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP, Chair of the Committee, said: “Meeting numerical targets for charging points is all very well. Delivering thousands of points allowing Londoners to easily zip around the capital while leaving the rest of the UK’s network patchy is obviously an outcome to be avoided. "It is imperative that the motorway network has a complete range of charging points as soon as possible to provide some confidence to drivers who wish to travel about the entire country." London's #ULEZ expansion has led to substantial improvements in #airquality in outer London and across the capital, a report by City Hall has revealed. Particle emissions (PM2.5) from vehicle exhausts are estimated to be 31 per cent lower in outer London in 2024 than they would have been without the ULEZ expansion. NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) emissions from cars and vans are also estimated to be 14 per cent lower in outer #London. The biggest reductions in NO2 levels have been in central London (54%) and there have also been substantial reductions in inner London (29%) and outer London (24%). An EV battery services centre is coming to Rugby! Cox Automotive Europe and DHL Supply Chain have teamed up to deliver a large scale battery management and maintenance operation in the UK, with the opening of a dedicated space for battery services within DHL’s EV Centre of Excellence in Rugby, UK.    Cox Automotive will provide specialist triage, repair and remanufacturing services at this battery facility, complemented by DHL’s inbound and outbound logistics and storage expertise.
